Willows are one of the easier species to grow from cuttings. I explain how you do this in this video.

There is a Willow by my old High School. Guess I will stop by this weekend and snag a few branches. Thanks!

I’m actually in the process of rooting a 2 inch thick willow cutting. From what I’ve seen on other YouTube channels making them into a bonsai requires constant watering/or submerging. I’m giving it a go. Thanks

Thank you so much for all your videos. I can only imagine how much work it took to make them. It has been very helpful for me.

i have a rather sad patio pond in a half barrel… the water is fine from water test kits i’ve used for keeping goldfishes. and yet, practically all the plants that i have bought to grow in pond baskets etc had the misfortune of not surviving either the summer or the winter 😞. peter’s video has just given me an idea on what to try next 😜

Willow the bain of my life no matter how much I cut them back I need to start back at the beginning the next year. And cuttings I thought were nit going to grow (as I left them away from soil for most the season) put them to far end of the property and 2 years later, I have more willow to add to the cutting list. But it is great when managed properly for making windbreaks

I ordered something that they are calling a Dragon Weeping Willow Bonsai (4 little twig cuttings and 1 thick cutting) to turn into household plants. They have rooted and I have planted them into pots. I am seeing some people say to put the pot in water and others say don't water too much. How can I determine what kind of weeping willow I have and how to care for it? Thanks. I love all of your videos. You are very knowledgeable and helpful.

I use hydroponics for rooting and starting off seeds. usually works like a charm and I put them in a pot when they get to about 10cm.

These trees grows massive in a matter of two to three months, only disadvantage is that they need a lot of water.

Aaw wow, mentioned willow cuttings on your last video and now you've made a video about them :) Had mine 3 years but never thought to leave the pot stood in water - this will certainly make watering far easier! They're so quick to grow but I feel they're probably a bit longer than other trees to make good bonsai (depending on the starting cutting I suppose)?

Can a willow grow indefinitely in water?
I want to set up a 300g scud pond aquarium and thought it would be cool to have a weeping willow growing out the top with all the roots filling the water and growing into the substrate.

Would it be possible to keep willow cuttings in water and just leave it there indefinitely? I was thinking of putting it in a nice glass vase with water and feed it liquid plant food every month for nutrition.
