The monthly updates are very useful. I'm there for ten days from this coming weekend, and your explanation[s] of the visitors tax have been clear and helpful, the system is easy to use. I have always wondered where the tourist taxes go. Hopefully the new revenue will pay for improved facilities (toilets, benches, etc.) for both residents and visitors. Thank you.

Grazie! Andiamo a Venezia la prossima settimana. Non vediamo l'ora! We appreciate you clarifying the city tax. We were initially confused because our hotel kindly sent us an email explaining that we were exempt, but that we would be paying (cash strangely enough) at the hotel. So it's really not an exemption from the fee at all, only an exemption from having to pay at the time you register for your QR code. No one avoids the money grab if you're a tourist without family, etc. in Venezia. Do you know why it has to be paid in cash at the hotel?
