Hi Friends! Shorts are a new style of video which is 60 seconds or less but please DON'T WORRY-I will absolutely keep publishing my full length youtube episodes every Tuesday and Thursday @ 3pm eastern time just like always. This is just a fun new format where I can publish shorter behind the scenes videos (series of kitchen tours?), baking/cooking hacks (how to instantly ripen bananas?) etc which aren't really the type of content that would make a full length episode. I read “snorts” instead of “shorts” and the thumbnail was white powder I- 😭😭

I tried blending granulated sugar in a food processor once. It came out alright, but the food processor bowl turned cloudy. It's no longer clear. I realized that the micro crystal shards of the sugar scratched and damaged the smooth plastic surface of the bowl. Creating like a million hair-line scratches. I learned my lesson and will not try it again.

I do that but don't add cornstarch.
Granulated sugar is much cheaper than powdered sugar and saves a bit of money

Another hack:
granulated sugar + molasses= brown sugar

That is literally what brown sugar is! I have seen it with my own eyes, right at the sugar factory. The best part is you can use different grades of molasses and in whatever amount to your liking. Mix well, and you may have to let the sugar fully absorb the molasses, using one of those terra cotta sugar moisteners. If just putting in a recipe, you don't necessarily have to mix them together first.

This is a great tip and I am happy you passed it along - but - my mother taught me how to do this in the 1970's 😊. The only difference is that she taught me to use 2/3 tbsp per one-cup of granulated sugar (and I used beet sugar instead of cane sugar). Good video, though, because so many people do not know they can do this. 👍
