In my opinion, this movie is an A+. It literally changed my life. Currently a year into a Mathematical Physics degree, thanks to the ideas this movie opened me up to.

I wept like a little kid during that scene where Cooper plays messages from his son and his expressions broke my heart.. I had never cried during a movie. Interstellar is my first.

Chris is right on many counts, except that Interstellar’s emotional punch is a lot harder than many critics give it credit for. At least for me, Interstellar is beautifully written, plot-wise and narratively speaking. Dialogue scene by scene is carried out well by the actors, but Nolan’s writing is smart, elegant, and full of powerful themes and ideas.

I give it an “A”. Because for me the emotional punch was a big right hook.

I honestly believe in retrospective this movie should be given at least an A-. I recently talked to lots of physics students at my university and so many of them said that literally this movie brought them to science. this phenomenon is also visible in the rise of physics students from 2014 on pretty much around the world.
