Forget planes, just look at the clouds during a sunrise or sunset, gorgeous underlit clouds with a darkened sky above them is impossible without the sun being below them somewhere above their flat earth model.

A few years ago I took a plane from Frankfurt airport (Germany). While we were taxiing the runway the pilot announced through the PA what we would soon witness. While still on the ground we could see the sunset, I was lucky and had a window seat in the right side of the plane and had a clear view. The plane took off and the sun appeared again over the horizon as we gained altitude. After a few minutes we saw another sunset. So in a few minutes we witnessed a sunset, a sunrise and another sunset. Explain THAT with a flat earth!

I have been witness to thousands of sunrise/sunset events.
Without involving aircraft, a bigger indicator is when the sun shines on the bottom of the clouds before sunrise and after sunset.
And not "way the hell up there" clouds.
Towered airports have cloud height measuring equipment. The cloud bases can also be confirmed by pilot reports.

I met a flat-earther who argued that the sun was no more than 40 miles above the surface of the earth because the human eye cannot see anything more than about 30 to 40 miles away.

The fact that that would then imply that the earth must be less than something like 80 miles in diameter was something that he hadn't considered.

I used to think that those flat earthers actually are just online trolls, talking a bunch of garbage not really believing all that themselves. I thought they would simply be unhappy with the amount of lies we are presented with everyday and thus start to make hillarious claims as kind of a protest. However I lately actually met one of those guys. I was shocked they actually exist. He actually asked why we cant go to antarctica. I showed him 8 different websites were you can easily book a trip there. Then he was like "Yeah how comes its so expensive?" I couldnt even believe the question. Probably, just a weird idea from someone running his own business, there is only ice there, there almost noone who wants to visit that place. If noone wants to go there obviously the trip will be more expensive than a trip to Mallorca where you have booked out planes and all... Not even taking into account the stuff you need to survive in a place that cold, the very few people who can actually be a guide in that place (I know that I would get lost immediately when surrounded by nothing but ice) and all that stuff.

But seriously those flat earthers claim you cant see any curvature from a plane, yet never boarded a single one. But those who did are the dumb ones? They claim you cant get to antartica, because they cant afford the trip, that doesnt mean there are no trips, you're just too poor to make it. Change that maybe? Na that's requiring too much work. I am an actual sailor doing astronavigation whenever possible and I can assure all of you guys, there is absolutely no way, how I could navigate like that on a flat earth. For some reason I always end up where I planned to go, which means its obviously a fucking globe, because my calculations would only work on a globe. Not only do I end up at the place I wanted to go, I even end up there by the calculated time... And honestly nobody paid me to lie about all this, I wish they did, would have way more money to go sail in that case 🤣

I work the night shift in a 6 story building. Daily, I can watch the sunrise and see it before my buddies working down on the 1st floor because the sun lights up the top of the building first as the sun rises.

The flatearthers sun will always be above the ground, which means there's no way it will be obstructed, and light travels straight. That means that even when the sun is at its farthest point on a FE you will always see it. there will never be "pitch dark", it will always be a dizzy light and a bright spot in the horizon. Their model will never have a sun dipping under the horizont.

1. Planes must constantly pitch down on a globe earth to maintain altitude
2. Planes must constantly pitch up to maintain altitude on a flat earth.

Question to Flat earthers if the Earth is flat and planes pitch upwards during level flight how can they maintain altitude?

Airline Pilot here. I love seeing this phenomena inflight as well. Around sunset and sunrise from our cruise altitude, we can see the sun shining in our faces from just on the horizon. When this situation occurs, we can see that the ground directly below us is dark due to the Earth's curvature blocking direct sunlight there. This would not be possible if our planet was flat.

Another neat observation I've made that couldn't happen with a flat Earth is seeing towering cumulonimbus clouds "grow upwards" from the horizon as we fly towards them. This is due to them being far ahead of us (typically 200 NM or so ahead at cruise) that the curvature is blocking them from our view. As we track towards them, they upper portions of the clouds slowly enter our line-of-sight. As we get closer we can see the lower portions of them as we curve across the planet.

I had a very dramatic example of this happen to me a couple decades ago. Driving home well after sunset when I saw a rapidly lengthening shaft of light in the sky approaching from the horizon and progressing over the opposite horizon in just a few minutes. Much faster and bigger than any airplane contrail I had ever seen. Got my answer on the 10 o'clock news when they mentioned the space shuttle had just completed a Florida landing that night.

Nothing could be easier or any more conclusive than measuring the difference between the top and bottom distances between two precisely vertical suspension bridge piers. The engineering drawings of the Verrazzano Narrows bridge show the top a couple of inches farther apart than the bottom, and they're both perfectly vertical. An imaginary line through them obviously meets at the center of a globe.

One of many things I dont get about flat earthers:

Why has no group of flat earthers ever mounted an expedition to the edge of the flat earth and documentet the trip? If would be the greatest scientific discovery ever! At the very least they should be able to film that the deep state turns them away when close to the wall….

- do they not believe their own theory?
- are they not smart enough to arrange the expedition?
- did they actually start the expedition by ship in the year 1492 and their ancestors have now completed 749 trips around the globe without finding the edge?

I mean, while its not exactly hard to prove the Earth is a globe, it would (if true) be even easier to prove it was flat. All it requires is for some flat earther to commission a ship or a plane an go to the edge with a camera, an he/she could literally just pick any direction he/she wanted.
