i really like the direction. and in a few years there will be lots of old phones with decent cameras laying around. but right now it will be very exclusive

I have been using my old devices like that for the last 9 months, although my iPhone 4S works better no lag the iPhone does lag a bit. And for those kids YES iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and 3 are old devices! You people really need to keep up with the updates!!

For those of you who have a older iPhone that doesn't work on it what I would suggest is if you have face time just call your self from your new phone to your old phone. It is not as professional but it works.

Used ipad 2 or 3 and iphones 3gs still hold a nice value of at least $200 and that's alot when wifi enabled security cams run $40-50

I tried doing this but with FaceTime. It worked great. I have to admit I used it for kind of spying on my siblings though while they were playing and doing their annoying stuff. I kept yelling into it and they could hear me so we could communicate a little.

What about the issue of the camera constantly recording as in security camera setup? You don't think that will wear down the mechanics of a camera after a month of always recording?

The only thing I like about this is the price ... free but Dropcam seems like a better concept even tho it isn't free.

Not very covert, perhaps remove the screen, metal bezel and just have the battery/Mboard/etc in a small book with a metal grille for heat dissipation.
