Wheel’s CEO Michelle Davey weighs-in as the ultimate virtual care market analyst, making sense of all the things that are influencing the health tech market these days. From telehealth policy changes at both the federal and state level, to the ‘corrected’ state of startup funding and health tech buying among incumbents, we get Michelle’s take on these market movers and how she thinks they will ultimately impact the business of healthcare.

What’s on Michelle’s radar? The continued growth of hybrid care models that seamlessly blend in-person and virtual care, Big Retail’s further push into primary care (and some specialty care), and, FINALLY, the real manifestation of the kind of consumer-driven healthcare the industry has been talking about for years. Says Michelle, “The reality is, the pandemic unlocked a new behavior of patients demanding this consumer experience. And, now we're seeing traditional healthcare and more established players look to digital health and say, ‘those are the great experiences we want to deliver.’”

And what’s ahead for Wheel in all this? Michelle says her teams have been heads-down working on integrating the GoodRx platform they bought at the end of 2022, in particular, “heavily investing in the R&D to provide a better patient and consumer experience, which is something new to Wheel.” On the provider side, Michelle talks about building out the tech to make it easier for clinicians to seamlessly work across both in-person and virtual care. Wait a minute…should we read in between the lines on that? Could there be a new kind of client looking to Wheel for help standing up their virtual care delivery system? Seems like there are lots of little hints hidden among Michelle’s predictions for things to come!
