RIP Bernard Hill (December 17, 1944 – May 5, 2024), aged 79
You will be remembered as a legend.

This scene is so pivotal for the rest of the film. It really makes Titanic feel like a character, not just a setting. Seeing how the boilers, engines, and crew all work in tandem to make this behemoth plow through the ocean likens Titanic to a living creature, rather than just a hill of steel and rivets.

I remember seeing this scene in 1998 when I was 7, and remarking "Grandpa! The captain looks just like you! We're you on Titanic?" And grandpa, an old Scotsman said "you never know" and winked at me. He wasn't even on Titanic obviously but he looked so much like captain Smiths twin I was convinced they were related for awhile haha.

RIP grandpa

James Cameron is a cinematic WIZARD this film was released in 1997 and almost nothing compares to it, the engines, the bridge, the sun deck, the ship itself, all as if resurrected from the bottom of the Atlantic, everything feels so REAL.

The ship really doesn't come alive until this scene right here very well presented; the captain, the firemen, the engineers all being presented in their roles to bring this masterpiece to life

It is really during this scene that you really get the sense that nothing could sink this ship

Feel bad for the captain here. He looked so proud of his ship

This scene alongside "Welcome to Jurassic Park" were the ones that made me fell in love with cinema as a kid.

There is just really something about those very ellegant aesthetics of old Ocean Liners, the multiple smoke stacks, the knife edged and slightly vertical bows and the long extended stern and bow

This scene always makes me tear up. It’s so emotional as the engine room and boiler room workers were the true heroes of the Titanic. They kept the lights on for as long as possible while she was going down. May the crew who perished aboard the Titanic rest in peace.

Love the sounds of the engines. It's like the heart beats of the ship itself.

That last shot right before the video ends is almost a recreation of the last real picture ever taken of Titanic as she sailed away. It's hauntingly beautiful.
