A good way to know if a fire is cool enough is if it stops steaming/making noise when you douse it.
Also leaves don’t help fires at all, they just leave smoke(and may have a chance to start forest fires)

It's a great way to build fire, found out through experience with my best friend. The air just gets sucked into the fire between the two bigger logs on the bottom. If you have enough fuel you can even hear the flow of air feeding the fire as it grows bigger and bigger.

It's called "tinder", like the dating site. A "tender" is the vehicle that transports the water to a fire emergency. Tinder is what helps start a fire.
Tender is also an adjective meaning soft or gentle. 😉

And if you're fired is made up of mostly organic things such as primarily wood you can use the ash or if you have water in the ring from dousing it you can use that to help fertilize area so if you say do one in your backyard you can use it to to feed some of your plants
