Just choose 4K SDR in display settings and after turning on both option on match content section your TV will automatically display content in DOLBY VISION if it's supported. Turning HDR10+ on in Samsung TVs really ruins the image in menus.

I like that you can set the format and toggle on/off the dynamic range because the local dimming sucks on my LG Nanocell (2019) when it’s in Vision/HDR.

I set my tv settings to Standard because the local dimming works to its full potential.

I turn off the range/frame rate to force it manually.

I keep it on 1080p SDR for most of the time but if I want to watch 4K content then I switch it.

Sucks that I have to this but I don’t mind the quick switch. This is cool that Apple TV supports these feature.

If you’re recommending people to select anything other than 4k sdr to start the video how can I trust anything else you have to say?

Hai sbagliato le impostazioni video, devi mettere Sdr nn dolby vision altrimenti quando vedi i contenuti in hd li opacizza e forza hdr anche se il contenuto è in hd mi segui ?

Does a more expensive HDMI make a difference

I don't like the match content on. I tried it and the handshke is really too annoying. I would just leave it off and force the setting you have rather then having the Apple TV figure it out all the time. I find 4k HDR the best setting especially if you are bouncing between 4k content and lower content. The Apple TV does not have to think as much. Also I would turn Match Content OFF. You really get the best format anyway and the Apple TV does not freak out or have issues trying to figure out what content it is trying to play. If you have HDR content great you get it, if you don't the Apple TV just ignores it but plays the best format.

4k SDR with with Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate on is the only way to go. That way you don’t have Dolby Vision on at all times including the Home Screen. Your TV will automatically play video in Dolby Vision or HDR I it’s supported.

Every time I try to HDR on my Samsung TV the screen gets darker

Bad advice. Far better going with 4K SDR

I have an older 4k LG tv and turning on “matching dynamic range” causes severe soap opera effect.

If you choose Dolby Atmos and turn on both “match dynamic range” and “match frame rate, ” you won’t be able to watch the first few seconds of any YouTube video, so you miss the start of any YouTube.

4K HDR/Dolby Vision is terrible. Everything is washed out cause you’re forcing all SDR to be HDR/Dolby Vision. This is coming from someone who has a LG C2 OLED
