thank you for using professional language, transcription signs and schemes to describe the sounds, it makes understanding so much easier. most of the videos on YT offer you to just repeat without actually explaining what's going on. would also love to see mouthing closeups but still - this video is excellent

The dutch 'Sj' like in 'Sjaal' is just like the 'Xi' in chinese, this really helps!

I'm very pleased to stumble across this since I just started learning Dutch, but the audio quality on this is bad in places... much too heavily compressed, at least on Gabe's parts. Is there a better quality version somewhere else? Dank je wel!

Not "American" R, but English R in all English major variants

Very helpful. I took notes. But it also seems you left out the sound of 'd' at the end of words, which is often like 't'. I observe that Dutch 'wind' is pronounced something like 'vint' as an English speaker would say that spelling. In other words, a final 'd' seems a bit reduced from 'd' in other start or middle locations. Comments? ejt

You gave a wrong pronunciation guide for L. The l and ɫ are both in English and Dutch. It is not as you said that /ɫ/ for English and /l/ for Dutch. English link it is still /ˈlɪŋk/ not /ɫɪŋk/. It is sad that I need to point out this as a Dutch learner of first week.

i actually pronounce both f and v as v word initially
and say sjaal as [sʃɐːʟ] and [sʃɪps], chip, jus and gin r said as [tjɪp], [ʒu] and [dʒɪn]
i usually use the correct one, [r], word finally its sometimed /ɾ/ and sometimes /ɽ/, having [buːʊɾ]
also /ʋ/ can be pronounced [w] word initially before o and u, like in [wɔrt]

As a native Dutch speaker I found that terribly hard to understand. Some of the sounds appeared totally foreign to my ears. I regret just spending money on a 2 year subscription to follow Spanish following your program. I thought I check out what you have to say about the pronunciation. What can I say: not impressed. 🤨
