There's so much lore and connections all crammed into a 44 second animation and after watching this like 50 times I seriously just went frame by frame in slow motion to see all the details and I'm just in love with this entire video! Kirby has got the most messed up content in it and this shows it all for all to see and it's about time!

I think what makes this so fitting and sad, even for an animation "meme", is that Astral Birth Void (AB Void if you prefer) is at least canonically intended to be a being from the same origins as Kirby but instead of having been given freedom and people to help nurture it AB Void had only rejection and hatred from tribes that feared it. They're both supposed to originate from "Void", the embodiment of a true neutrality in the Kirby universe, totally formless and unstable until it bonds with positive or negative powers. The pieces of Void that are exposed to, and bond completely with, negative powers become creatures such as Dark Matter which only cause negative outcomes as a result. Dark Matter is quite literally the "shape of going wrong", only able to survive by not just destroying but undoing the goodness around them. AB Void was basically just Kirby if, instead of being loved and being able to save people, he had no freedom to shape himself. It's not QUITE dark matter, it's still not driven away by Kirby's love and hope like Zero was, but it's easily the largest evolving mass of Void that could have become Dark Matter. It's Kirby if he were mere moments away from giving up on life and being forced into Dark Matter by no choice of his own.

In that sense Kirby going "No, you made the choice to be!" feels fittingly in denial about looking at what might as well have been himself, or his own kin, unjustly hurt and mutated into pure, unaligned chaos. That could have been him, that could be him, and the only reason it isn't is because he happened to grow up differently. It wasn't really AB Void's choice, either, though. That's just what AB Void believes it is; a living scar beginning to believe that it will never fully heal. It's faces shape itself to all different kinds of dark matter, on the verge of fully transforming, it's attacks are inspired by Miracle Matter as well (a whole different topic but basically Miracle matter is like a small piece of void already too far gone, unstable). It's a small detail but in-game, it even copies the face made by Zero Two's host body before being taken over. Not dissimilar to Magalor Soul's smiling corpse being used as dark matter's host. Giving in. That's dark matter's nature and if AB Void did the same, the cycle would repeat again and again. The way it loses it's smile in the animation fits the situation well like that even if it's all coincidentally done. You can't just tell someone they chose to be hurt by others and be taught the things they did. That they could have chosen to be different, be like you, that there's no way you could be like they are. Even if it makes you feel better about your own fine-line between who you are and the tortured mess you could have been if you were just a little less lucky, it's scary to think you aren't as willing and noble as you believe.

Dark Kirby content is the best Kirby content. These games are dark as all hell story-wise, and it's always the best when someone portrays that with the dark realism it deserves.

I love this animation! The idea that Kirby is haunted by what’s happened to some of his friends like Magolor is really interesting, especially with him noticing the similarities Void has both to himself and the Zero and having some sort of crisis because of it

I love that ending sequence where is seems to hint that Kirby is leaving because he fears he will face the same fate of being sealed away out of fear by the people he trusted and loved, just like Galacta Knight because of his resemblance to Void

"Heart" being the one part of the beginning chant that is never skipped fits really well in the context of Kirby. You can lose your love, lose your mind, lose control, but the heart's a stubborn thing.
Or the soul is, which would explain all these superbosses.

Also during the beginning chant, the progression of each character through their Timeline of getting Emotionally Destroyed is so cool. Like, Kirby goes from :D - Friend Hearts Acquired - so much Dark Matter - existential depression, Susie goes from stealing the interface headset - realizing the consequences - about to sic Kirby on Star Dream - regular depression, Taranza goes happy - thinking about the Mirror - outright mourning - mourning so hard he summons an illusion of his old love, and Magolor progresses from his introductory appearance all the way through his bossfight.
And then Marx is going through normal - wish - dead - SOUL and jumpscaring me.
God damn.
