Thanks for this vid. I am doing some research because I want to get a hygometer. Happy growing!

Interesting video, Maria! 😊 I've been skeptical of moisture meters. I use my finger, a Bonsai Jack aeration stick, and weighing plants in my arms as ways to gauge dryness. I use the Bonsai Jack aeration stick like a cake tester, and I'll gently prod it in several locations. Lifting my plants is the easiest way for me to know when it's dry.

Hygrometers. I use the ThermoPro. I have four of them in different locations of my house. One of them in our shower! 🤣 It amuses me to no end watching the humidity spike to nearly 100% whenever I'm using it!

I have bought 6 moisture meters. Two didn't work at all but I have bought 4 allotofpower brand and all of them have worked. I have given two to friends and have two myself. I find in bigger pots that you can't pick up or get down to the roots, they are perfect. Yes, smaller ones that I can pick up I don't use them on, unless it is a cacti/succulent which I do use them on. Honestly, it just makes have a large collection that much easier and less stressful!

Thanks for this, Maria! I've known I should get a hygrometer for a while, but there are so many available. I'd love to see a comparison of light meters in the future!

I really like my moisture meter! It saves me a lot of time by eliminating most of the guess work from watering. I also find the hygrometer to be handy as well; it helped me determine the optimal spacing/placement/settings for my humidifier/plant setup!

I have a Vigoro moisturizer meter that I think I bought at the Home Depot. As far as I can tell it works. My problem is breaking roots with it. I’ve broken off a pilea baby, which I just stuck right back into the soil, and I may have broken some spider plant roots.

Nice! I love my hygrometer...it’s always telling me what a bad plant parent I am. Hahaha. I tried a pot of moisture meters once out of curiosity—Both said, “dry” immediately after I watered, so I tossed them and decided intuition was better (for me). Nice video—it’s nice to see how others approach humidity and watering

I find that if I leave my moisture meter in a plant pot for a few minutes I get a more accurate reading.

Heyy! Could you review that new product Gia? It's a soil watering indicator. I'm super interested in the way it works and I think it's pretty cute I'd love to know what you think /find

I rely on the readings from my hygrometers, placed strategicly throughout my main living room, bedroom and bathroom, along with the humidity reading from my smart thermostat to gauge the effectiveness of my humidifiers. While my humidifiers allows me to set the humidity level, they don't seem to be accurate. Setting my humidifiers at 45% keeps the ambient humidity throughout my house between 50% & 55%...according to my hygrometers. :-)

Okay off topic question...what lipstick are you wearing? I have been thinking about trying to wear lipstick and having a hard time trying to decide on one since I’ve never really worn anything but chapstick. Since I’ve gotten older I think I need a little something. I want to also get something that’s gonna stay on all day and not rub off while drinking my coffee/water/etc. Again, sorry for the off topic question.

I swear, I’m the only crazy plant person that runs a Dehumidifier all year around 😅 idk if it’s bc I live near a running stream, but my dehumidifier set to 55% & it runs everyday. Mold is real 😫

I'd like to see the moisture meters in a glass of water 💦 see if it freaks out.
