Doesn't the plant give energy to the zucchini? Energy it receives from the leaf.
The leaves are literally what gives the plant the energy to produce the fruit. It's a solar panel.
Not saying pruning is bad. But what you described isn't how the plant actually works.
Photosynthesis from the leaves creates sugars that the plant uses to grow. Cutting leaves always reduces potential energy created. Not always a bad idea, but there's always a tradeoff. It always reduces potential energy created.
