rivian did the same thing when revealing the R1T and R1S. I remember going to the show with my dad, he ordered one, and it came last year. he ordered it in 2019.

The original Iphone was only shown off 6 months before its release and its was so much more advanced than anything before it. So for 2 fairly normal ev's to have 3 years before they go on sale is crazy to me.

Yes! When they announced the Scout and looking into their origin. I immediately thought. Oooh, I see where Rivian and a few others got their design ideas from.

The SUV reminds me of the new bronco but I do like the scout range of 500 miles. That’s something that could work out for everyone who wants this type of suv

it is important to note this is actually modeled after the *Scout II* plus the other 4door pick-up is a new mishmash of the first Scout(2door w/ pick-up bed, but small) and the Travel-All(huge 4door stretched Scout II)...so like the new Bronco and their smaller 'Sport' they could come out with a affordable Scout(1) version

anyway, now so many things look like the original Scout and Scout II (minus all the rust they always got)

I completely understand how annoying it is when a vehicle is released so long before it goes on sale. However, speaking from experience at a global automaker, its wayy freaking easier to do product development when you dont have to worry about camouflage and who sees the vehicle.

I always thought the Rivian truck looked like my 1974 IH 1210. I kinda wish I'd bought a diesel Scout in 79.

I think they’re both good looking. The original Scout was a great little truck. My friend’s dad swore by them for hunting. That same friend’s mom had an International Travelall. It was the original Suburban. It was a roomy comfortable car. Very basic but seemed well made. Not the prettiest car ever though.
