If you or someone you know has or struggles with depression, you may know there are a lot of treatments out there. But sometimes it can be hard to figure out which one is right for you and your brain. Cassidy went to Active Recovery TMS to try Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, which is for people with treatment-resistant depression.

If you’re depressed now; wait until you get the bill.

I tried TMS. It did nothing for me. It did cost me over $500 (after insurance) but please don't let my situation be your only research. I have been fighting the bipolar fast cycling depressive battle for almost 21 years. Obviously I am one of the few that simply can't find the right combination of treatment, medication, counseling. Please don't give up

I am on day 21 of TMS and it has been life changing! Truly. I thought it was a placebo at first. It is not. If you have treatment resistant depression, I highly recommend it!

Why is it for people who haven't had much success from meds? Why are bullshit meds with horrendous side effects the first option? I'm trying TMS first.

I spent thousands on this treatment and experienced less than a year relief. This didn’t work for me. But I keep trying. Don’t give up the fight. Try every thing.

But who has the time and the commitment...its a big ask if you are working etc and how long does it last, short term long term side effects..any motor, memory impairment?....id like to think it would work for resistent major depressive disorder

We have a Black Sea City with low intensity magnetic beach in Republic of Georgia. it's a low intensity magnetic beach created by river, which brings black Magnetite sand from mountains and deposits it on the area. In times of Soviet Union it was heaven for kids with bone disease and cardiovascular problems. You go there in Summer, stay 2 weeks, enjoy beach every day and simultaneously getting treatment. Sounds good? when you first go there the sand sticks to your skin, but after 10 day spend there, I guess magnetic balance restores and it does not stick any more.

so did I. It works for about 60 pct of people with depression. Guess what - I wasn't one of them. But it was worth the try. It costs a small fortune but when it works it's worth it.

Can you just get this TMS without even taking any medications at all for depression?

Where are you located? Have you used the NeroStar for OCD? We live in Mass. and my daughter had it done in California. It worked so well for both her OCD and autism symptoms. She felt great and was functioning at such a much more calmer and insightful state of mind. I am a clinical therapist as well and would love to see TMS utilized for more than just depression. I know it has been recently approved for OCD, although the machine being used is called Brains way. I am not too sure if that is working as well as the Nero Star did. Can you please let me know if you are currently working on utilizing the nerostar for OCD and autism.

I have severe depression and thinking of trying this, but I'm very skeptical. I did the SSRI crap back in 2000-01, and they had a terrible long lasting effect on me that still goes on today. Naomi Judd mentioned that she did it back in the day, and it gave her grand mal seizures, which scares me, and it's unfortunate that we still lost her.

Entheogens/plant medicines from the earth also work for depression, anxiety, PTSD AND there's no electricity or magnetic energy being forced upon your brain. I recommend anyone searching for help, do some research. Just trying to open your mind to more natural treatments, but whatever works for you! If you're reading this, I'm pulling for you. You are needed. You are loved and I hope you feel better soon! 🙏
