The SkiErg uses a flywheel which means you want to pull on the cords like it’s a lawnmower!

Most of the power in your stroke should come from the top of the tower to the monitor. After the handles pass the monitor stroke through behind your knees, then return to the catch.

Pushing the handles down to the end of the cord is not only bad for the machine…but it’s not effective. I like to think that I have two paint brushes in my hands and I am making a stripe on the ground besides my shoes!

I guess it depends on why people are training on a SkiErg. If it is a off-season training to get in shape for the next XC skiing season then none of the alternatives are correct. But if it’s using the SkiErg as a cardio complement for strength training, then that technique is probably applicable because it most likely optimises the power output. But it will most likely be negative for the XC double poling technique. ☺️ Stay strong! 💪🏻🙌🏻

I just look up the Concept2 video, hat to pockets. Depends on your goals. I am currently recovering from an injury and balanced on one foot so this machine will be my friend for some time.

It doesn't matter as long as you are hinging and not bending your back/neck too much as that will lead to strain. This machine really does not mimic actual skiing. So long as the heart is pumping and you're not feeling any discomfort; you'll be ok.

There is no right or wrong way. If you get tired it is working.

Why? Are we really training to ski?....or are we just trying to get the heart rate up with some movement. IF it's just exercise, then do whatever it takes....play around with what ever form you like...and change it day to day if you like.
