An imminent Trump Presidency spells potential tension with America's Transatlantic allies in Europe as he sets up for what looks like an antagonistic second term. So in this video, we explore these stresses and whether Europe and the US could grow apart.

Our mission is to explain news and politics in an impartial, efficient, and accessible way, balancing import and interest while fostering independent thought.

TLDR is a completely independent & privately owned media company that's not afraid to tackle the issues we think are most important. The channel is run by a small group of young people, with us hoping to pass on our enthusiasm for politics to other young people. We are primarily fan sourced with most of our funding coming from donations and ad revenue. No shady corporations, no one telling us what to say. We can't wait to grow further and help more people get informed. Help support us by subscribing, engaging and sharing. Thanks!

I'm all for Europe ditching the US as long as we don't replace that relationship with China and Russia.

You know, while horrible, it also would have a certain irony if NATO's Article 5 is triggered, by a USA invasion.

We the Europeans need to stay together, otherwise the U.S.A. and Russia will treat our countries like colonies.

The EU will have to work together a whole lot better if they ever want to ditch the US

As a Spanish citizen I think the EU should ditch the US and focus on doing better and more competitive products such as electric cars, micro chips, and military equipment.

It was time the day before yesterday. But the question is if Europe will be able to.

Europen (EU) needs to decouple from the US on a number of issues. It won't be easy, but we really don't want to be dragged down with them. (edit: Let's be clear: I'm european. We don't want to get dragged down with the US).

Europe should start being more independent and relying on itself instead of relying on the United States

The EU needs to end fossil fuel dependency, which we are dependent on Russia and the Middle East for, even if that means nuclear plants being started/restarted.

Typically, invasions are done without the approval of the invaded party.

Yes. It was time decades ago. America is not a reliable security partner. And, I've said this before, but its time for the UK-US "special relationship", to formally come to an end, as it was dead on arrival since it just consists of US endlessly reneging on their end of the deal, and for Britain to realign with Europe. Britain is not mini America. It is far more like European countries than the US. I say that having lived in both the UK and continental Europe.

EU needs to reform and provide a viable integration plan for all its members. In its current form, it simply doesn't have the military and economic prowess to leverage a sovereign position against both the US and China.

I'm British and quite frankly I'm getting sick of the US, especially Trump and Musk's arrogance. As Finland's president just stated, our holiday from history is over and many European countries need to switch back toward a war time economy. If Europe is strong then they don't need to rely on the US. I would really like to see the UK downplay the "special relationship" and rebuild relations with mainland Europe, not only for economic stability but also security.
