New pictures of Downing Street lockdown parties emerge

Photographs have emerged of Prime Minister Boris Johnson at a party in Number 10 during lockdown, going against previous assurances he made.

The images, obtained by ITV News, show Boris Johnson holding a glass with at least six other people around a table with several empty wine bottles, biscuits and crisps.

In the series of images, the group appear to be toasting someone as Mr Johnson speaks. There is also a red ministerial box on a chair.

The gathering is said to have taken place for a leaving do for the PM's communication chief Lee Cain on 13 November 2020.

Doesn't matter if Johnson was there for 1 minute, 5 minutes, or 3 hours, just look how many bottles were on the table! How could anyone, including the Met, not see that as a party. Also, Johnson said that specific event wasn't a party, when questioned on it, in the House of Commons! I mean, this is beyond ridiculous! Johnson clearly lied to Parliament and should go, but the bigger worry for me is why the Met seems to have given him such an easy ride. I'm sorry to say if we're to maintain confidence in our policing, we now need an IOPC investigation into the Met! What a mess!🙈

His answer to the question, 'will the Prime Minister tell the house whether there was a party..." was no. He then went on to say "... but I am sure whatever happened..." which shows he knew something had happened. He'll claim he didn't mislead anybody because the question was about whether he would tell, rather than if there was a party.

It's ridiculous, but he'll argue semantics.
