NIKON 70-300mm AF-P f/4.5-5.6 E ED VR - REVIEW

In this video I explain why I chose the AF-P NIKKOR 70-300 mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR and sold the SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Contemporary.

This Nikon lens is ideal for travel photography, wildlife photography and sports and action photography.
This 70-300mm zoom lens delivers great results and can save you money.

I also test this lens against the 85mm f/1.8 prime lens.

2:10 * I meant my Nikon D500 instead of the D800.

This 70-300 and the 200-500 are both easily in the top 5 absolute best zoom lenses you can get for the money, across all brands. Tremendous values. The 200-500 is currently $1060 (US$) during holiday promo sales. Great review here.

Hi,

My first visit to your site today (enjoyed it a lot, not least the Voigtlander 58 review — I love that lens!).
I had the AF-S 70-300G and then after trying the Tamron 70-300 VC (which had problems with flare, otherwise excellent), I ended up with the Sigma 100-400 C, which is pretty outstanding, in my book, but now needs servicing after many years of use (I did fine-tune the focusing using the Sigma dock!), but I do have the AF-P 70-300 DX as well, when I need to travel light! Love your art, and not least the photos!

I'll be back!

I bought the 70-300mm nikkor lens 15 years ago and it is still the sharpest lens in my collection. Mine is not light weight and is quite heavy for its compact size. They are on the market for $800 CAN and still in demand which means they are not going anywhere. I used it on my D80 and now on my z50 and will be using it on my z6ii when it arrives. One lens that is staying for good.

Thank you for an excellent presentation. You've convinced me that this lens would be a meaningful upgrade to replace my current telephoto zoom (Nikon 80-200mm f/4.5-5.6 D )

Thank you for this informative video! I just bought the Sigma but am returning it and getting the Nikon 70-300 instead, and your video confirmed I've made the right choice.

Thank you so much for your video. I was considering whether to go for the AF-S or the AF-P because of the price difference, but you have convinced me to save up for the AF-P.

Great review. I am also replacing Sigma 100-400 with the Nikon 70-300, so this really helped! Thank you!

Hi! I know it’s a year after this video but I just found your channel! It’s awesome how you do your reviews! I also have a question would this fit a Nikon d3300!?

Great Video 📹 thanks a lot . Question 🙋🏻‍♂️ I'm a Birdwatcher and I have an old NIKON D5, 000.. Do you recommend this model for my Old camera 📸. Or which model do you recommend with this range of characteristics... Thanks. 😇 ✌🏼

My work with this lens ( VR Version ) was featured on social media platforms and magazines, for about 200-300 dollars Canadian
you guys cannot go wrong specially if photographing stationary objects or bigger wildlife in zoos but there will be large issue shooting birds in flight if your distant from the subject, or smaller birds, i would suggest the sigma 150-600mm

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and comments....I have the AF-S model for my D500 but I purchased s/h & it has fungus on front glass so rather than getting it repaired maybe I should get the newer AF- P version... cheers 😀

Really good and complete review. I want buy a zoom lens for my dx camera. Also old sigma 50-150mm f 2.8 and tamron 70-210 f4 sound good options for me too . Do you have any idea about them?

2:09 "D800 with a cropped sensor???" Maybe, you're thinking of a D80? Or do you use your D800 with the DX crop factor applied in the camera settings? The D800 is for sure a full frame body.

What do you think about using this with a Nikon D7500, I want a Super tele for photographing air shows and wildlife / birds without breaking the bank and this gives you 450mm on the D7500. (FX 70-300 AFP on my DX D7500)
