This guy is one of the finest pieces of Nikon's creations. I have tried this lens to photograph some animals in zoo, unfortunately I forgot to keep it's hood but didn't find any trouble.
my opinion : this lens could fit in your photography arsenal for sure.
Pros:
*The lens is acceptably sharp
*It's fast enough to capture stunning wildlife/sports photos when you have enough light also works well in low light conditions but would force you to bumb up the ISO.
*Pulse motor or "AF-P" auto focus system is quite fast and accurate even @ 300mm which is multiplied by 1.5x to my Nikon's cropped sensor body.
*Light weight
Cons:
*Small aperture
