Hickok45 videos are filmed on my own private shooting range and property by trained professionals for educational and entertainment purposes only, with emphasis on firearms safety and responsible gun ownership. We are NOT in the business of selling firearms or performing modifications on them. Do not attempt to copy at home anything you see in our videos. Firearms can be extremely dangerous if not used safely.

As an instructor I always used to tell my sailors "smooth is fast, slow is smooth." When you're stressed, especially behind a firearm, you move and shoot a hell of a lot faster than you realize.

Your passive humor is probably my favorite thing ever. Thank you for being you.

Thank you Hickock. It's refreshing to view a shooting enthusiast who isn't constantly berating antigun people. When people tell me that all gun people are "gun nuts" I will direct them to your channel. You and your son do a great service to the shooting community sir.

Love your videos! I was just getting into shooting pistols when I found your videos. I've gotten a lot better just from watching your tips and the way you do things. Thanks for all the help! Keep it up.

"take your time in a hurry" is a surprisingly great way to explain a lot of things that have to be done very quickly and very precisely, from racing to shooting, martial arts and a lot of other things I'm sure as well.

What my roomate always said while teaching me to shoot: Slow is smooth, smooth is fast and that's really helped me.

Your advice is the exact same advice I give to my guitar students. Don't think about speed. Think about accuracy first. Make sure you play the right note, watch your timing, play smoothly. Speed will come, just don't try to force it. Let it come naturally.

My shooting instructor always said "You can't miss fast enough to win." and I think that approaches 100% correctness.

Good advice from the legendary, Hickok45. Wyatt Earp died an old man. The good advice, Hickok45 gave Wyatt Earp, led to Wyatt becoming a careful man like Hickok45. ... Developing common-sense is more important than being just a fast shooting pistolero. Some of the old timers out West did NOT study on, Hickok45. Such men as, John Wesley Hardin, Jesse James, Wild Bill Hickok and many others were shot in the back. They all thought being fast was all that was needed. Being sober, watchful and careful, like Hickok45, is also important.

I love this man Hickok45. There is truth in his words here. However, you can accelerate your learning to shoot faster by seeking good instruction and doing lots of practice. I recommend reading Surgical Speed Shooting, it really helped me out. Focusing on the front sight from before the shot, during the shot, and after every shot is a learned skill and essential for fast and accurate shooting. A good two handed grip as can be learned from the mentioned book, proper trigger contol, and watching the front sight the whole time are the three keys to shoot quickly and accurately in my opinion. It takes time and effort to learn, but lots of regular people have done it so why not you.

Wyatt Earp is a really good person to talk to with a name like Hickok45. Those were tough folks living back then.

I got to go to Tombstone once as a kid. It's so lovely and historic, and it really suits you well Hickok. Cool setting for this video.

Holy cow, is this video proof that Hickok was one of the gunmen of the historic O.K. Corral?! I mean, I knew Hickok was gettin' up in them years, but this..

Rhythm, I feel is very helpful in learning to shoot faster. I like to count out loud....1, 2, 3, 4, or 1 and 2 and 3 and 4. Go as fast as you can while still getting quality hits. This helps distract the mind as well as tune in to your body's propensity to things rhythmic or repetitious..

One of the things I love about shooting is how many different ways there are to enjoy it. Personally, I like shooting off hand standing up, usually at short to medium range. My friend that I shoot with a lot is a precision nerd, and really enjoys shooting from prone in a slow methodical way. We both want to get into some competitive shooting (although we have some practice to do first) and it's nice to have someone to pull me out of my comfort zone and vice versa.
