Last time I checked, mosquitos can land on water, as when they lay their eggs, then fly off. You need to break the surface tension of the water with a few drops of dish soap, so they drown.

The bottle may trap mosquitoes but Flea would be impressed with that background bass solo...

Substitute the yeast with vinegar and sugar or baking soda or dried moldy leaves also creates carbon dioxide which may attract bugs to the trap

Mosquitoes are attracted to CO2, yeast breaks down sugar into ETOH and CO2 so in theory this could very well work!!!

This is my mosquito trap, the mosquitos think it's blood but it's actually chilli sauce, after that they want to drink water but it's actually vodka, after that they get dizzy and trip over a stick then fall right on the knife. The design is very human.

People pay a lot of money for a propane mosquito trap that works very well but requires a 20 lb propane tank refill every month. A compost pile gives off a lot of CO2 and heat which attract mosquitos. Take a two liter soda bottle and cut it in half. Take the bottom half and put a lot of tiny holes in it too small for mosquitos to get out. Take the top half and put some holes in the sides large enough for mosquitos to get into the trap. Fasten the bottom half over the top half and put the trap over a hole in the lid of the compost bin. The draft of warm air might prevent mosquitos that enter the trap from flying back down through the bottle neck. Increase the velocity of the draft of warm air by running a hose through a hole in the bottom of the bin, up through the compost pile and up into the trap. Put some tiny holes in the hose where it is still under the lid to draw carbon dioxide into the rush of air.
A cubic yard of compost can sell for $100 or more. It can be accelerated to composting in two weeks by frequent turning and perhaps using a heat driven ventilation system and running the air over a bucket of water to put moisture into the compost. Mosquitos do not travel more than about 100 yards in their lifetime from where they hatch. One trap in the backyard makes little difference in bite rates unless there is about one trap per acre over a large neighborhood.

I live in Texas, where ALL the mosquitoes r huge, and I live on a lake, so I'm definitely trying this one out.

Instead of making the trap I simply use my hands to kill the mosquito

What’s stopping them from flying back through the hole.

Why tape? Was the mosquito going to escape between the 2 pieces?

They say it’s easy, but you try getting yeast around here anywhere! Let alone wasting it on a trap

But it could go out the way it came in. So where's the trap?🤨
