Pressfit BB & Bearing removal without violence... almost!

The worst thing I know is when I have to take the hammer to my bike. Normally on pressfit frames this is a necessary evil, but my move to the Token thread-fit bottom bracket was a step in the right direction.

Now with this "universal" bottom bracket tool kit I was hoping to retire my hammer for good as I decided to put in some new NTN bearings... and it almost worked...

My buddy with a 3D printer made me some custom bearing drifts for the exact same problem. They ended up working great. Well worth the $2 in plastic material and a 6 pack of beer for helping me out.

Hey, thanks so much for this video! 6:48 of your video helped fixed my small problem where my bearings sat a little too outwards and prevented my bottom bracket's dust cover from fully sitting flush into the BB assembly!

I actually have the same toolkit as you, except mine came with an additional washer to get bearings to sit further into the BB!

I‘m an Enduro-Mountainbiker, but your videos are so satisfying and I love the production quality so I enjoy watching every single Video of you.
Continue making my favourite videos, please, you’re the best. :)

This was very helpful so I’m glad you chose to post the video. Problems, solutions, and knowledge gained are well presented. I just purchased a 3T Exploro RaceMax online. It came “assembled” but that is a term that only loosely describes the bike being ready-to-ride. I plan to do all the maintenance, something I have relied on bike shops to do for more than 40 years. I building up my bike tools, reading, and watching YouTube videos to find out the tools I need and how to use them. There are so many options and different specifications which means I have a lot to learn and you are helping with that. Thank you!

Brought this tool months ago when the video came out and have just had the opportunity to use it. Felt so good easing out the BB without a hammer in sight. Thanks for the heads up ✌🏻

I'm due to remove & fit my very first press fit bottom bracket. This tool seems like it's worth a shot. There's mixed reviews on the 'cheaper' Park Tools press fit tool (it is lacking bearing alignment capabilities, apparently) and I don't want to spend £250 on their more expensive tool. So, for £39 including delivery, I will give this one a try. It's almost half the price of the 'cheaper' Park Tools press fit tool! Awesome! Thanks! And thanks for providing a link for UK. Great service :D

Legend! Removes and destroys expensive bearings just out of curiosity and for our entertainment.

Drifts. You're right!
You can also just use the old bearing as a drift to help push in the new one in a pinch. Generally it won't go in far enough to get stuck itself.

Hello, I have the Hambini bottom bracket and the low friction bearings, I have to say the Bressfit bottom bracket with the NTN low friction bearing are absolutely amazing.

Thank you for the recommendations! I wanted to mount my 30mm SRM cranks on my Cervelo with Ultegra, which created a cascade of annoyances. (Shimano insists on 24mm) I couldn’t get the part in Germany, shipped from US, received the wrong part, Zollamt…. Anyway, I bought your recommended tools. Now they are mounted and I didn’t even bring a hammer in the room! 🤘🏽

Great video. I bought the exact same BB tool off the back of it and it works a treat. Mine came in a cardboard box though, rather than the fancy-pants plastic one you've got😢 Never mind, not having to take a hammer to my bike more than makes up for it - thanks to you, my soul is intact😀

Hi Tobias, I’m have been following your channel for a while, but it only recently dawned on me that you are Swedish. I’m stuck here in Sweden because of corona and you reminded me to check out the VOID shop and I will do that this weekend. Keep up the good work

One thing you can do to have another bearing drift is to take an old bearing and sand/file/grind the outer diameter down a bit so it fits easily in to the bearing race. Keep those around for future use. I've done that kind of stuff for automotive work for years. Especially when doing differential work.

Nice video. I just bought a Hambini race BB86 GXP, but didn’t press it in yet. Although I’m excited to do so. He’s a crazy guy with a reputation to hold. If he makes and sells one bad BB the big company’s he crushes in his videos will not let the opportunity go to squeeze his bearing balls 😬
