Bonjour Eric ! I didn't have time to ask you the question on Saturday in Paris, here it is now... Could you make us a video on cleaning the soap stone, because I think a lot of us struggle when cleaning ? Merci.

I love my Konnected Joe, and the soapstone is a game changer. It's a perfect fit and is perfect as a cooking surface and as a deflector.

Met Chef Eric in Tampa at my local BBQ accessory store where a group of us were treated to great food and great instructions on how to cook on our Kamado Joe grills. I bought the soap stone and now all my burgers are smash burgers ( great tip on having the soap stone sit on the rack). Another pro tip he gave us was to use Ghee on the soap stone for a buttery taste on the smash burgers. Thanks Chef!

This is probably the best accessory I have purchased for my KJ. Out performs and a lot less maintenance than cast iron. Easy clean up and when it needs a good cleaning just drop it in the dishwasher.

How do you clean food residue off the stone without scratching the stone? Do you use a metal scraper? A sponge doesn’t seam to be heavy duty enough to get the grease and grime off.

How do you clean this one? Also is it normal to create a sort of black patina and is it okay to continue cooking on it? I’ve got one but after few uses it turned all black and no matter how much I clean it it seems to stay black. Ta

Is the Soapstone tested for Asbestos? I have the Classic III and love cooking on my soapstone, but I've read it has Talc and Talc carries some asbestos in it.

Looks like a great product and is on my list of accessories to buy. Quick question about size. The size on the box is 18.27 x 8.74 x 0.75 inches. If it is half moon - Diameter should be two times radius but 2x8.74 is not equal to 18.27. Quite puzzling. Any response will be appreciated.

I am looking doe the same answer. How do you clean this especially if you get food really burnt on ? Is there anything (metal scraper ) that would be too tuff on it that would damage it? Is there any particular cleaner or soap to use or to stay away from? Is there anything you should do to maintain it like when you oil cast iron ?

I know that soapstone must seasoned otherwise it will break. How does the Kamado Joe soapstone not break without seasoning?

This is the best surface to cook on. I use it constantly This is a soft stone so always support it with a grill grate to keep it from warping or breaking.

I'm a soapstone fan... bought mine only 6 weeks ago, and it is the best cooking surface I got. Actually bought one for my gas grill also (not the Kamado version ;))

I find it more easily to clean and to maintain compared to a cast iron surface, the cooking results rock on the soapstone. Burger, fish, vegetables ... oh my good! The recommendation of putting it on the grill accessory is an important one. Mine developed cracks (which probably isn't a big issue for a natural product like stone, but giving it additional support is good advice)

Show more things to do with the sopastone!

Great product, when not applying pressure like when doing smash burgers it's not necessary to put the soap stone on the regular griddle for support? The 3 support points on the Devide&Conquer system are enough . Only downsie on the soap stone is the long time it takes to get heat in the stone when compared to for example cast iron. When preparing meat on low (indirect) heat it takes to long to heat the soap stone to sear it off. Any tips for this?

I used mine the other day for the first time, put some butter on it then done bacon, eggs and pancakes. It left it black, which I was told was normal. But question is it better direct heat or indirect heat??

I had one. It’s heavy, very fragile and hard to clean.
