"A natural rider who was modest, friendly and understated. He had a great understanding of horses."

Willie Mullins paid his tribute to Mikey O'Sullivan and all of the sport and all of us at Racing TV express our sadness at the loss of a talented and admirable young man.

So sad. He was gentle and quiet and just went about his business.

Last week everyone was talking about a horse not running at Cheltenham. Michael just put everything into perspective. R.I.P Michael

I lost my daughter at 24, I loved Mikey, he was a breath of fresh air in racing, he was genuine, honest and loved his profession. I sort of know what the family are going through. It never leaves you, no matter how many kind words come your way. R I P Mikey.

A lovely tribute to Michael, he had some great days and should have had many more, an absolutely awful tragedy. May he rest in peace.

It seems only like yesterday, I remember watching You win at Fairyhouse with the commentator screaming MARINE NATIONALE!! You were, and will always be remembered as a true hero.

An absolute tragedy, just 24. A great future awaited him. Your heart goes out to Michael’s loved ones. Rest In Peace, young man, gone far, far too soon.

Pure Class...Heaven needed you more...In "Brian's Song" at the end, Jack warden narrates a line that has molded the way I look at Life and Death and probably Typifies Michael's Love of Horses...."Brian Piccalo died of cancer at the age of 26...he left a great many friends who miss him and think of him often...But when they think of him, it's not how he died that they remember..but rather how he Lived...How he DID live"

I can’t believe he’s gone. What a bright light in the sport and in life. Such a tragic end. So needless. May his soul live on.

I hadn't been as confident about a Cheltenham fancy as I was about Marine Nationale since Denman, and even when Facile Vega kicked there was something about Michael's demeanour that never dented that faith. How sad we won't get to cheer him on up that hill so many more times. R.I.P

We can't take the risk out of life, but it still seems so unfair when tragedy like this strikes. RIP.

Beautiful footage, Michael at his best, he may not have had the chance to be Champion Jockey, but he should be remembered forever as one of the finest horsemen to ever grace our sport
