The evo panel made in Guanzhou, is also available in the 65" 77" and 83" C1, you can know if your C1 has an EVO panel, when you put a 100% white and see some pink tinting when looking it from the side. The EVO panel can be more resistant to burn in.

Quite surprising results in that there's little to no difference. Certainly not enough to warrant getting a G1 for extra brightness. However, that dirty screen effect on the G1 is unforgivable and I would send that back straight away.

The “Evo” panel marketing by LG this year confused the hell out of consumers. The 77 A80J has it and all the A90J models have it. I’m not sure which C1 sizes have it, but I’m pretty sure they also do.

Thank you for showing the uniformity and say there is banding, sadly you rarely see people do that on youtube and just say the screen looks perfect. I’ve replaced panels for this issue but decided to keep my Panasonic OLED. It’s got no banding but sometimes in bright indoor scenes i can see a bit of red tint along the top which can frustrate me a little but this just shows no panel is perfect

What most people tend to ignore is: LG announced these new panels as being 20% more EFFICIENT not 20% brighter !
As you proved here the EVO panel isn't (necessarily) brighter ... but from other publications using a wattmeter it is proven the G1 requires around 20% less energy than the C1 ... which leads to the conclusion LG used the higher efficiency almost entirely for saving energy instead of increasing brightness (and the same higher energy consumption as the C1 then).
This is comprehensible due to (at least) in Europe the new Energy Classifications for consumer products are getting much harder by March 2021 ... all high end tvs will end up in the worst classification ("G") ... the EVO panel might be a step to lift the G series in to "F" or preparing to get it there in 2022...

Good to know there's no improvement to be had with a 2nd gen panel. I came here after seeing The Witcher S02 and wondering if it could have looked even better with a new panel. Sticking with B8 then.

Why does LG get a pass for false advertising? They marketed the g1 as a brighter oled even though it’s clearly not. Early reviews which marveled at its “brightness advantage” were either recipients of cherry picked overclocked panels from the manufacturer, or were paid off. If Sony or samsung pulled off such dirty shenanigans, they would be roasted on a spit.

You forgot to mention the G1 has next gen tuner ATSC 3.0. But you are on the money with the comparison. I’m glad I went with the Sony oled. I was originally getting the G1 but I don’t game at all.
