If you fail at lockpicking a chest you can actually carry them with you in your inventory and bring them to camp for your other party members to give it a try. Also if you come across any crates you can store them in your inventory too and stack them to get up to higher places

Karmic dice actually smooths out randomness of rolls so it's actually good to have on for beginners not bad.

If your companions are far away, they will not automatically be pulled into combat and you can freely switch to them. They will only join the fight, if they are spotted, you walk past them, or they attack, so by toggling all your party members into hiding mode and funnelling them into combat one by one using (sneak) attacks, you can ideally pick off half of the enemy team, already, before they even get their first turn. Also, enemies' perception seems to be pretty bad, so if you keep your distance as a rogue, you can make almost every of your attacks a sneak attack for a lot of easy damage.

Great tips however ability scores aren't tied to race anymore so racial features are the only reason to pick one race over another. Another handy tip, always keep in mind what spells take concentration so you don't accidentally end your spell effects early

And customize your hotbars!
Those little plus and minus icons in the bottom right allow you to add more rows to your main hotbars section, which in turn lets you have more abilities to look at without having to click the various subcategory buttons. Honestly the freedom of customization on the hotbars in this game is some of the best I've seen!

The radial customization is pretty great for controller users too!
Though I think some quality of life options like being able to swap the order of your radial menus and pick which one it defaults to when you bring them up would be nice.

Definitely got the karmic dice backwards. If you disable it, it removes the failure protection. Enabling it prevents failure streaks. The game outright says how it works.

I love a good push off a ledge, although it sometimes makes loot recovery impossible, so you need to think about it before you do it. I once had to restart a big difficult battle because I chucked a boss into an endless void, with all of their nice loot.

I'm sure plently of people have mentioned it somewhat already but Karmic Dice does not make the game harder for you as you said, it simply makes the dice rolls more average to prevent long streaks of good or bad rolls so if you've gotten 3 bad rolls karmic dice will prevent that for going on too long.

regarding enemy positioning etc.
I fought some enemies in a place that had a little room in the corner - so i went into that room, so all the ranged attackers who ran after me had to go to this little corner, making it much easier for my melee characters to deal with them.

I keep forgetting that you have to use "Disengage" before moving away from enemies who are very close to you – and then keep getting hit by reaction attacks as a result. :(

My tip is that when you reach level 4 you are given an option to choose ability score increase or a feat. The ability score option is at the top of the list! This might be easy to miss since you're given a long list of feats and it can be overwhelming 😅
Also note the weapon and armor profeciencies of each character. If your rogue wears armor they're not proficient in, they may not be able to sneak. Also if they're proficient, they can use a weapon's special moves.
