The new Sony Xperia 1 V retains all the best features of previous Xperia 1 phones, like a 4K high refresh rate display, expandable storage, cutting edge cameras with eye tracking autofocus, a 5,000-mAh battery, a dedicated hardware shutter button and a headphone jack; all wrapped in Sony's lovely mundane and utilitarian design.

I think Sony would do better in the cellphone market if their phones were widely available.

The biggest advantage with Sony is the manual options. This is absolutely unique. The autofocus is also in another world.

I love how this is suppose to be a "Camera Review" of the Xperia 1v but he didn't even mention it's main capabilities like the dedicated camera apps for professional photography which they've further improved.

I've been holding off Sony's 2021 and 2022 flagship phone because of the thermal-inefficient SoC. Now that Qualcomm finally got things right again with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 alongside Sony themselves giving bigger heat dissipation, this is definitely my next phone.

I read the review on Cnet. You seem to worry about the price of the phone, but you barely talked about how the phone has strong capability as a field monitor for your alpha camera. That alone would justify the price over iPhone and Galaxy S23. Seems like you reviewed the phone without taking into account its use case for the intended audience.

The Xperia X1 from 2007-2008 is still one of the best looking models ever designed by Sony.

Yeah. $1400 is high. But keep in mind that you get expandable storage, and the other two don't give you that at 256gb. So if you factor in a 512 to 1tb Iphone or S23 price, it would be about the same and more.

Replacing the Xperia Pro-i for the Xperia 1-V and i still have my Xperia 1-ii. The phone is packed with great features and it's good to see Sony using more computational photography and still giving you the creativity freedom.

Yap it's more expensive basically but do not forget you can put external SD card up to 1TB.

Not going to lie as someone who's been in Graphic Design for 24 years these photos even on youtube at 4k look far more accurate to life than even the Pixel 7 pro..

I could care less about the camera. Im kind of tired of that being the only thing that most of the companies focus on. The main draw for me is the audio. Everyone listens to music daily. I hardly take pictures. If i wanted a device that solely takes amazing pictures i would buy a camera.

I find it hilarious that he claims Samsung dominates in the night mode when all the black areas in their pictures have an awful blue/purple noise cast on top of them lmfao. Like sure sharpness may be great where you're focusing but the colours are inaccurate and there's ugly noise leftovers in black areas.

The Iphone has an awful green and yellow piss white balance as per usual (which nobody is talking about still and it's driving me nuts).

The Sony has the most accurate white balance most of the time right next to the Samsung, but it has by far the best colour science. Maybe not in some dark areas though, I'll give you that.

Nice review, and honestly you forgot some of the main features of the phone ... like the headphone jack, the screen with NO notch and no hole punch, the micro SD card support, tool-free sim swapping .... the fact that the device supports DUAL SIMs! And so much more makes it worth the extra $200 over the S23 Ultra .... This is where I think this review fails, it is only comparing cameras .... but the Sony has WAAAAY more cutting edge features than just cameras .... The free headset with the pre-order are worth $200, so really the phone is $1200 .... anyways!
