What phone should I buy after selling the 1IV? Am I too petty?

2 months in and i think the 1 V is fabulous. nothing is perfect but it's not far off and the physical design is wonderful. more than happy with it.

The Xperia line has become a very niche line. If Sony lowers its prices, maybe that would attract more buyers

Every year or less there will be an upgrade or some phone that is "better" and most of the time those features won't come to the previous version, that's how they make money. I understand the disappointment. What I'm learning to do now (always known this mentally), you buy a phone for what it is now and enjoy that or buy new ones for every new feature or upgrade and never be satisfied, that's what companies want from their customers....😉 Now and then I'll use an older phone for one or two days and when I get back to my latest phone I'm happy enough.😊

Completely agree with this review. I had this phone for a couple of months. Camera is capable to make fantastic, DSLR level quality shots but....only time to time.Also I missed macro mode which is available on many other and cheaper flagship devices. Night photography is pretty bad here too (without a tripod). Taking shots of moving objects in low light environment - nearly impossible. So I would still keep this phone for it's look, feeling in the hand and few other things but not for its full price. $600 is the price I'd pay for it. No more than that.

6:40 I noticed this issue with the telephoto lens at the very beginning with early reviews and i wondered why no one was mentioning it, so thank you very much for being one of the very rare channels speaking out on this. After some research i found out the Telephoto lens mechanism is not made out of glass but plastic for cost reasons, so apparently that is responsible for this washed out light reflection issue and it becomes stronger you more you zoom in. I'd rather Sony makes the device $50-100 more expensive and gives us glass lenses for the telephoto than this cheaper solution wich visibly lacks in image quality...

I own the 1 IV and the new iPhone 15 Pro Max and recently purchased the 1 V for the new 52MP main sensor. Yes that is an improvement on the 1 IV but not upgrading the telephoto lens is a disappointment. The iPhone is my preferred camera as the results are great and the main sensor allows for 'cropping' from 24mm to 28mm 35mm and yes even the 48mm 2x. The iPhone 15 PM 120mm tele is also a weaker lens / sensor combo and lacks detail. I believe some of the other phone manufacturers (mainly the chinese Vivo, Oppo, Xaiomi) are now including larger sized and MP count sensors. The tele lens remains the one weak spot on mobile. Lets see what Samsung come up with on the S24U.

I agree with you regarding the telephoto lens, I tried an Xperia 1 V in a store, the main and UW cams take great shots but the telephoto cam was such a letdown, I thought the lighting in the store and the fact that I couldn't use the phone more to test it were the problems, but the other 2 cameras were already good. The tech behind the moving lens is genius, but the processing is attrocious. Eagerly awaiting a video when the bokeh mode comes to the 1 V

I think you got it abit wrong the 1V telephoto lens has got the December update and february and march update and telephoto lens has got much better spezially with 5.2 optical zome i have taken alot of shoots and I think it is more then good enough during the Day and when useing the manuell mode at nigth is it also not that bad .

Well put together video with concise info and credible user experience. Appreciate the time and effort you took to make this. Your gripes with the Mark V are understood and valid. However, I noticed at the start of your video you included your olympus camera. I also have an Xperia Mark II, and a sony a6400. And when I genuinely feel like taking photos or something happens that is worth recording, I go for my a6400. And sometimes being out in the world you shoot with whatever you have with you when a moment happens, I get that. But despite your let down the V's telephoto lens, how often do you use your dedicated camera?

The best smartphone ever Sony made is Xperia 1 III. I wanna return my 1 V to get again 1 III. This 1 V is a frustrating smartphone with many removes wonderful things to integrate things that doesn't work very good as that Zoom, the less details of main camera because of Pixel Binning, Even the new speakers aren't so good compared to 1 III etc.

This video is 6 months old, I wonder if the issues got fixed with updates ? did we get the bokeh mode and the x2 zoom ? did the zoom lens got better ?

Glad you include it but it's funny when people play the speaker test and doesn't quite matter how good the speakers of the reviewed phone are, they're still playing through my xz1c's speakers lmao
