1:45 the water-wheels are insane... at 2:23 you can see they not only spin the drive-shaft they also lift some water in these "canals"... who knows how the whole construction looked 2500 years ago and what pupose every part served... i imagine if you put enough of these wheels together you could lift enough water to move it hundrets of meters into the city or on a field to water plants...

For Wootz steel: you need a crucible that has vanadium in it as an "impurity". You load the crucible with your flux sand and some glass, and throw your cast irons in (metal with over 1% carbon content). The oversaturated carbon in the melt crystallizes into a carbide lattice by building off of the vanadium and the steel left has enough carbon taken out of it to make it a high carbon steel below .9-.8% carbon content as the matrix for the carbide lattice. The added vanadium helps in the resulting alloy. Temperature control is crucial for this step. The resulting ingot is wootz and has to be carefully forged to make a blade from it.
