You could draw scar as a magenta glazed terracotta and he'd be like "I can see how you put your own artistic influence on this. I don't personally see myself as a magenta glazed terracotta, but I don't want to restrict your vision"

Now I just want to see some Scar fan art with him as some sort of steam punk transformer with hydraulic tunes everywhere.

The only requirement for Scar fanart should be that Jellie must be included.

I feel like Scar wanted to say that he prefers no tubes in the fan art but just didn’t want it to seem like he thinks badly of the tubes or other people who have them too (and Ofc like he said, to not hinder anyone’s creativity).

He’s so respectful and kind TT_TT even when it’s an art about him, he doesn’t want to impose on the artist!!

it's so easy to see scar as just a silly guy sometimes that seeing him stop to seriously consider the question before answering really stood out to me. i'm very grateful whenever content creators feel willing to directly communicate with their audience sometimes. we have such a supportive community and i love being reminded of it.

Totally respect Scars opinion as it’s about him, but as someone who is also disabled I love seeing Fanart with both mobility aids and medical equipment. It helps me feel more worthy and comfortable with myself! If someone takes the time to create amazing art including aides, then maybe my own aides aren’t something to be embarrassed or ashamed off

I once saw a animatic depicting Scar with a cane. Personally I think that fits so well considering that it's:
1 less intrusive
2 He used it like willy wonka which I really think fits him

I remember seeing a really cool piece of art where the wheelchair folds up into leg braces when he transforms from irl Scar to hermitcraft Scar

You know, it takes a big man to basically say "I don't care how you see me, just see me." I'm proud of you Scar. As a fellow disabled person, I want to get on that level.

I love seeing how artists incorporate the wheelchair into his design, I’ve seen elaborate, steampunk-y designs for Boatem/S8 Scar, magical living tree-sculpture designs for Elf Scar, and super slick and aerodynamic designs for Hawkeye Scar!

What a wonderfully useful clip to upload! It's always good for the community of fans to hear the CC's boundaries and preferences when it comes to stuff like this. All you have to do is make it known.

Like Tango, for example. He didn't like being associated with horns/devil etc which used to be rampant in the fanart. Finally he said something about it and through word of mouth and clip sharing, it spread like wildfire and now nearly 90% of Tango fanart doesn't have horns. And the ones that do are usually done by fanartists who simply didn't know but when they get informed they change it for the next time. But he's never outright said it on an official clips channel like this. It would be great if more hermits follow suit like Scar.

as someone who uses mobility aids i alway get happy seing people who take the time to draw wheelchairs or canes even if its just into scar fanart it makes me feel a little more seen :)

I love how respectful he is about people's artwork, even when it's about him! The hermitcraft fanart is so amazing, I've seen depictions with wheelchair, no wheelchair, maybe even a cane, it's so cool to see what people come up with!

Personally I really appreciate when creators talk about specific preferences they have when it comes to fanart. Maybe they don’t look like that in real life (tango and cleo for example), but their skin is still part of their identity, you know? And it feels nice to know you’re respecting someone’s identity

When you make it back to hermit craft, you should make a custom light saber shop

he's absolutely valid to not want fanart with tubes, and if he wanted to say that he should be able to. i can understand as a fellow disabled person how we might not want to be seen as defined by what makes our lives harder. the wheelchair gives us more mobility, and movement (in some cases), but tubes i can definitely see as a hindrance more than a help, and something we wouldn't want to be constantly reminded of.

I love seeing fanart with Scar with a cane. It's a nice unique way to look at a disability and at the same time adds to his flamboyant Disney-like whimsy

Thank you scar for sharing this, this is really good to know! As an artist myself I never want to draw you or the other Hermits in a way they don't like. We draw you guys to show how much we appreciate your content, and knowing now what you would or wouldn't like to see makes us all feel better

It really helps to have things like these- boundaries, or even preferences- documented on YT, since things like stream clips, twitter threads, or reddit posts get lost and most people won't see them unless they're really scouring every bit of someone's online presence. Thanks for uploading it here!
