The Honda Jazz has been a mainstay on the South African market for decades now but for whatever reason, Honda South Africa has decided to retire the nameplate in favour of this, the Fit.

On sale as of June 2021 in South Africa, the Fit has impressed us with its super build quality, ride quality and impressive warranty.

In this video, Ciro De Siena takes an in-depth look at this latest generation of Honda's venerable practical hatchback, compares it to its rivals and gives you a detailed overview of the interior spec and features, as well as the Magic seats in the rear.

Let us know what you think of the new Honda Fit in the comments below.

I like how this car is small but when you're inside it feels like a big car.

You completely missed the second part of the Magic Seats, which is that the seat base folds UP so you can carry tall items in the rear footwell. Very clever packaging!

In the US it was always called Honda Fit. I own a 2016 Fit and have been pleased by the amazing utility of this small hatch. People are amazed about how much stuff I can carry in this little car.

Fun fact: In Lesotho, the Jazz was already being sold under the name "Honda Fit", and is probably the best selling car that side-It is commonly used as a taxi as well in the cities of Maseru and Maputsoe.

Our Jazz is 14 years old and still drives as Good as New.
Reliability is key when it comes to Honda. We have never had any issues, seats are still as good as in 2007.

If you are buying a car that you are planning to retire with or keep for long, the Fit is a Good Choice.

I had a manual transmission 2007 Sport Honda Fit for almost 13 years and it was a great car!! Now I bought a manual transmission 2020 Honda Fit and I’m very impressed with all the new features! Sadly, Honda Canada will not sell these cars anymore…

would rather this Honda than any of those brands you mentioned at the end. I for one don't need to show "status" by driving an SUV, I'm far more humble and self assured, don't need to prop my self up in a pretentious high rider. As for Haval, no thank you, they've got a long way to go to get to the reputation Honda has built up over the decades.

Just sold my 2009 Fit. Miss it already. Can’t believe they aren’t selling these in the US anymore.

@7:19 You missed out on showing the best feature about the Fit's rear seats! The bottom benches fold up to allow a tall loading area

Our 2012 Jazz is on 263 000km and still going strong. Would love this one but not a fan of CVT

Quite scary, I bought a 2015 Subaru XV 2l All wheel drive with similar safety features for R380K. The car prices nowadays are extreme!

So no mention of that front end that looks like it's already been in a crash?

I've enjoyed a 2017 6-speed Honda Fit EX for 5 years now. I try to keep up with this model so I can replace mine if necessary, which would probably be from a totaling collision with a deer. Currently over 80K miles (134K km) and not a single issue, though recently I've had to spray electrical contact cleaner in start/stop button. Brilliant in every way, and continuing 41 mpg (66kpg) on much wider than OEM tires. The A and C pillars look very thick again, but the upgraded infotainment system has to be better. I miss the old school gauges, but they are becoming a thing of the past. Unfortunately right when the Fit name is worldwide, the US is not importing the new model.

In the US it has always been called the 'Fit'. In Europe it is still the Jazz and it is now only available as a hybrid. I own one (2008 model) in SA and a one year old Hybrid in the UK. That is a fantastic car and I get between 4.0 and 4.4 l/100KM. Town or highway makes little difference as the petrol engine (1.5l) always runs at maximum efficiency, in fact driving in town and on country lanes I get the best fuel economy as then the use of the electric motor is optimised. In your review you don't mention if the cruise control is adaptive, if it has lane keeping assist and lane departure warning and a host of other things that my UK model has. Truly a great car. And I agree with the remark about the magic seats, where the seat can be pivoted up providing a huge (and tall!) boot space. Still love my 2008 model in SA too!

You lucky ones! It is not available anymore in Canada! So sad!
