A true prodigy who was saddled with the loftiest of expectations from Day 1 – and somehow managed to exceed them. A model superstar whose greatness is immutable; whose resume is virtually unrivaled; and whose imprint on the game is everlasting. From Cole Harbour to Pittsburgh to the pantheon of NHL legends, this is the story behind: Sidney Crosby.

Crosby with no concussions and a perfectly healthy career would have 1600-1700 points right now

What made Sidney so great? He delivered on much hyped promise (Just the title of his top 100 players video). No player faced a more difficult mix of expectations, pressure and injuries. And despite all that, he didn't just fulfill the expectations, he delivered BIG TIME. It has to be scripted. Triple Gold Club, almost all individual trophies, youngest captain to hoist the Stanley Cup, Back2Back Conn Smythes, THE GOLDEN GOAL, World Cup MVP, the SO Winner in the first Winter Classic and so much more I forgot right now. Sid overcame every barrier. And not just that. He did it in a way that is unprecedented.

The most complete player the NHL has ever seen

Sid is a hard worker with otherworldly talent. He constantly works on his craft, even improving his game at age 35, where he is still one of the best players in the league. He's a great spokesman for the NHL, and oh by the way, he's also one of the best grinders in history. I feel blessed to have watched him for his whole wonderful career.

When it’s all said and done Crosby will be in the top 5 of all time. Greatest player I’ve ever seen in my life. Different era and different game then when Wayne and Mario played. Crosby is 1. For me.

what i find most amazing about Crosby was the incredible hype he had before coming into the league. The penguins openly said they will be drafting sidney crosby. the goalie that let in his first pre-season goal said he was going to sell the puck on ebay. the hype was insane and this kid lived up to all that hype and even surpassed it by winning 3 stanley cups and was the best player in the league for a number of years.

The thing that blows me away most about Sid is how many people say that he's an even better person than he is a player. From some of the stories I've heard, I'm inclined to believe it.

Crosby never stops doesn't let anything take away his vision and scope from the game. He sees dimensions that no one else does unequivocally.. He's a generational player lots of accolades.

Top 5 all time player. If he decides to stick around his points could end up in the top 5 for points as well. If he didn't have the concussions he would have ended up #2 all time in points ( in a very low scoring era).

My personal favorite thing about Sid is when you need something to happen, pressure is on, it feels hopeless, he finds a way to come through. Also he constantly just finds ways to wow everyone by doing something a lot of other players couldn't even think of trying.

Sid is a legend. He's 35 years old and still a top 10 or 15 player in the league.

Crosby was one of the youngest players in NHL history and yet he completely outplayed his entire team scoring 102 points as an 18 year old rookie. The next best player on the team? 58 points from 31 year old Sergei Gonchar. Insane.

no mention of his amazing defensively and all around game. That’s what makes him special.

People forget that Crosby played in an era with the least goals scored ever.
Modern superstars > Gretzky.
Scoring consistent 1.5ppg in an era with 2, 5 goals for on average, is insane.

Man was on pace for 70+ goals and 140+ points the year he got injured. He would probably be around the 1800 mark if he never got injured. Easily a top 5 player of all time. Was amazing watching him growing up.

Led the NHL with the most average points per game every single year since he was drafted lol that's crazy. And the most 2+ point games, it's a lot more than any other player in the NHL

Crosby is just the type of player you can build a team around and kudos to the Penguins management for doing so!
