People who didn't grow up watching Crosby will never be able to appreciate just how dominant he was. While he certainly had his fantastic 1v1, 1v2, 1v4 etc highlights coming off the rush, he wasn't pretty and consistent like McDavid is now. Crosby was dominant in the corners and down low, plays that you'll rarely be able to find on highlight reels. It's a highly underappreciated area of the ice. And Crosby was better than anyone. There's a reason why he is often referred to as a "Superstar Grinder". During his prime, Crosby was nearly impossible to knock off the puck down low. It was something special to watch.

Man, I just do not get tired of watching Crosby score that goal. One of the greatest moments of my life.

As a Canadian part of me wants to thank Zach Parise for tying it, sure if he didn't and Canada went on to win 2-1 it would've been awesome on its own and probably saved us a lot of stress but because the US tied it, it allowed for the creation of one of the greatest moments in Canadian hockey history and a moment and a feeling I think every Canadian watching will remember for a long time, those 2 weeks in Vancouver were special and this moment caped it off perfectly

After all of these years…I never realized how frequently Crosby went five hole on Miller. Adds a whole new element about the greatness of the golden goal. Great video

"CROSBY SCORES! SIDNEY CROSBY!! THE GOLDEN GOAL!!!" is burned into my brain. Watched this game when I was 10, can still remember it years later. Was the first Olympics I watched too. I was so happy to be Canadian that year, and I still feel so blessed to have witnessed this game live.

I'm terrified for 2026. US has come such a long way in terms of hockey and I wouldn't be surprised if they become the new juggernauts of the sport. But for Canada...we'll always have this.

I mean Canada obviously had an absolutely legendary team in 2010, but when you look back at the team USA roster, it's comical to think they were not also considered a Gold Medal-potential team because that roster is absolutely STACKED.

I’m from Pittsburgh so I was guiltily pulling for a foreign country in this game. What an ending. What a player.

I love watching videos showing Vancouver from a distance during the game, all is silent and then you hear this massive roar swell up of millions of people cheering all at once. The party downtown was crazy. We danced for hours.

Great breakdown again. I'm actually so pissed that I don't even remember watching this game as a kid. I was 6 years old in New York and my parents said we were screaming so loud when Crosby scored that all the neighbours heard us. Can't believe this faded from my memory.

Hearing "Sydney Crosby! The Golden goal!" makes me tear up everytime. Truly one of the most incredible moments of an already incredible Olympics that probably will never be topped.

You did a great job scripting this memory!! I'd totally forgotten about that thumping of Russia and OV earlier in the tournament. Gold medal game, I remember being 23 and taking the GO train downtown Toronto and watching the game at Elephant and Castle on Queen St. The bar was absolutely PACKED to capacity, everyone standing shoulder to shoulder and the tension was insane. The place went absolutely nuts when Sid the Kid scored. The party poured into the streets. Happiest I've seen Toronto after a hockey game. That 2010 Team Canada roster was an absolute beast, loaded with clutch superstar players all entering or in the middle of their primes. As a Canadian hockey fan, I'm not sure another Olympics or sporting event will ever top the 2010 Vancouver games.

I'm an American from Chicago. Back then, my hockey team was playing in a tournament at one of the only rinks in the area with a TV in the lobby. Our game ended with about 5 mins left in this Gold Medal game. We get off the ice, the squad is all chillen, taking our time in the locker room, thinking we're about to lose to Canada. Then our coach comes back in to tell us Parise tied it up & it's bout to go to OT. We hurry it up, then head to the lobby just in time for puck drop. It's packed to the brim with people watching. Seeing Sid the Kid score that game winner was gut-wrenching. What a moment. 😔. Congrats to all the Canadians 🙏.
