Nodes for Noobs... Understand Nodes in just 5 minutes! Davinci Resolve 5 Minute Friday #3

That was a really useful video and cleared up quite a bit of my Fusion understanding. One thing I would mention is that it took me a while to understand the importance of making sure you are clicked in the right node for types of changes. I would see many tutors saying "just do this and adjust this" but without emphasising the importance of the right node being selected. Thanks again.

Some basic stuff about Fusion

Select a node and press F1 to open the manual at the right page for that node, it works for almost every node, unfortunately the ones that this does not work for are usually the ones you will find almost no info online.

On the node the white square is your output, triangles are input. The yellow triangle is the background, the green triangle is the foreground and the blue triangle is the mask, if you work with 3D there is a lot more colors.

A node's output can be sent to multiple other nodes, you do not need to duplicate it, although sometimes duplicating it will make things easier.

Try to keep your flow going one way, usually left to right or top to bottom, that is personal preference but it makes things easier, your flow can look like a spider web if you want. Also you can use nodes to write things on your flow.

When playing back you can see the nodes working, if a node turns red you know something went wrong with that node specifically, now you just need to figure out the problem.

Renaming nodes with F2 is important, most Youtubers show you basic flows with a few nodes, but when you start having over 10 nodes things gets confusing if you have not renamed your nodes.
