Nobody dropped the ball. They were part of the grift. They are complicit. They should be fired, at the least, prosecuted, to be precise.

Please keep on this story. At best those IRS officials were criminally negligent, at worst they aided and abetted. If one of us did that, we'd be facing felonies. 🤬

Sounds like the IRS inspector general is oblivious, lying, or running interference

It's not who dropped the ball it's, who took the bribe.

No one dropped the Trump mandatory audit ball. Someone picked it up, sealed it in a box, locked it in a cabinet, and wheeled that cabinet to the back of a very large and crowded storeroom. This was not an accident.

I just don’t understand. When I worked for the government or government contractors I was under more scrutiny and couldn’t step out of line. This family has gotten away with things that no one else has. Why?

The fact that I pay significantly more in taxes than Cheetolini, while earning barely more than $50K is disgusting.

The odds of him not getting audited and his two enemies getting audited are greater than hitting the lottery.

They can't blame COVID for failing to audit Trump in 2016, 2017, or 2018. They know Trump's SSN. Shouldn't the president's audit get a very high, if not the highest, priority from the IRS?

Committing a crime is not the same as “dropping the ball”. Someone needs to go to jail in the IRS.

Nobody dropped the ball at IRS, someone just took the ball away.

The boss is responsible. The head of the IRS is solely responsible and should get some jail time.

There needs to be legislation that if a public servant who has retired or resigns is found the be guilty of corruption or incompetence when in office they retrospectively lose all benefits paid and ongoing including health plans.. A retrospective dismissal. This includes public servants members of legislatures and law enforcement officers.

Looks like a lot of IRS workers need to answer questions under oath to the FBI as to who ordered them to audit Trumps enemies.

I'm a 65 year old NYC retiree and pensioner, and I paid way more taxes in 2016, 2017 and 2020 than Donald Trump a "BILLIONAIRE."
That wasn't fair at all....

"Dropped the Ball" infers an accidental mistake. This was no accident, it was directed.

To the people: I can't show my returns, they are under audit.
To the IRS: Don't audit my returns.

If justice doesn't deal with Trump properly, it will be the end of democracy in the USA. I weep for my children.

What is extremely disappointing is that, apparently, nobody at the IRS was a whistleblower on this sordid mess.

Who ever decided not to audit trump needs to be fired immediately.
