$400billion of income taxes go uncollected every year in the US. It’s not the poor that are setting up accounts overseas

Of course. How many poor people are going to hire lawyers to combat the audit?

We need to quadruple the size of the IRS especially in the area of lawyers. In order to bring down white-collar organized crime

No surprise there. It's just like the justice system. The little person always takes it in the shorts when the government is involved.

Irs inspectors should be incentivised on the tax underpayments they uncover... then they will ensure less tax is lost

This is why I don't like the income tax. we need to replace it with luxury taxes and national sales tax.

Worked for twelve years in the collections department at the IRS, all the audits and accounts where people owned money was from people making $100K and below. Saw thousands of these, but of none over accounts making over $150K. By the way, congress makes the rules, the IRS just follows them.

You have to realize that the IRS is run by somebody who is a millionaire or billionaire to start with they're not going to audit their own they never have they never will plus two they have more legal problems against the rich cuz they have hard lawyers and accountants and they try to argue the law the poor person cannot afford the lawyers and the CPAs and accountants to do this

It probably takes longer to audit rich peoples’ returns as they probably have a lot of sources to report. So, they grab the easiest ones.

Just make the rich pay their fricken share already.

The noise doesn't matter. Requiring $600 transactions to be reported while hiring 87k IRS agents. Then going after waiter tips. Tells you who the government is going to go after.

I was audited 3 times in college while making less than 30k a year

Even Fox News said this, I don't think they ever did not say this.

If it's on Fox News, things are serious.

You are correct in that thought David, but the very rich have accountants and lawyers who fight the IRS making the IRS is job to get that money, nearly impossible, and highly labor-intensive. From what I understand it typically just doesn’t work.
