Build An Animated Player Intro Screen Using Scripting

There is a shortcut in vMix that allows you to add a new input to the preset and specify where the media for it should be loaded from. There is also a corresponding shortcut that lets you remove an existing input. This combination provides a way to load specific media files when needed based on external data, and then delete them when you’re done.

On today’s show, we’ll leverage this capability via scripting to create an animated Player Introduction screen driven by data in an Excel spreadsheet. This screen will dynamically load a video file associated with each player, loop it in the background behind information about that player, and then drop it when they are no longer on screen. We’ll also show how we created an effect that simulates a player’s card being flipped on top of a deck on the screen.
