Dental bridges types - Lapointe dental centres

Bridges belong to the family of accessories aiming to fill toothless spaces. They are made up of one or several porcelain teeth attached to the nearby teeth. To affix the bridge to the neighbouring teeth, we proceed in different ways. There are several kinds of bridges. The name of the bridge is determined by the type of attachment that binds it to the adjoining teeth. For example, one is called the butterfly bridge. This one can rarely replace more than one or two teeth and is fixed in place with metallic wings glued to the hidden surface of the teeth on each side of the space to be filled. Another type of bridge is the fixed bridge. This one can replace more than one tooth and is fixed onto a minimum of two crowns on solid teeth that are called an abutment. This type of bridge requires grinding of the pillar teeth, making it less conservative but more durable than the butterfly bridge. We can also use a wing on one side and a crown on the other. This type of bridge is called a hybrid. The California bridge with inlays instead of a crown is much more conservative. No matter what type of bridge is chosen, many appointments will be needed before the insertion. The complete procedure includes two impressions permitting the manufacture of the bridge in the lab. The pillar teeth are then ground, followed by the final impression and then the installation of a temporary bridge. On the last visit, the temporary bridge is replaced by the permanent apparatus. The choice of colour and shape is made, taking into account the patient’s opinion. Many precautions must be taken so as to ensure the greatest precision. Whenever the manufacture of a bridge is involved, no mistake can be tolerated. For this reason, you must expect to spend time and money in this endeavour. But once the bridge is in the mouth, all the importance of such gestures is understood.

Hello, I recently had a 3 unit
bridge on lower incissors, I was missing one congentially . My dentist did root canals on my two abutment teeths which were perfectly fine(without any cavity) before cutting them and installing bridge . But I am reading online that it's not compulsary to do . So I am wondering why did he did that, Are there some advantages of it if we do the RCT before ? or did he just do it to make some money ? I am really feeling bad knowing I have destroyed my other fine teeths as well. Would RCT treated teeth cause problem in future ?
