For those confused this story is about how a man of Indian descent pretended to be a man of African descent with a slight border on how it's "cool" and "fashionable" to pretend to be a minority now

See this is what's messed up, the guy was already black just not the right kind of black to get American privileges.

He looks black to me. India is a land of black people, our ancestral heritage is vast. I've seen Indians discriminated against because of their dark color just like us. I believe we share the same ancestors, just geographical differences. I don't see a problem. We are both black.

India is also the second-largest sending country of international students to the United States after China: Close to 103, 000 Indian-born students were enrolled in U.S. educational institutions in the 2013-14 school year.

Vijay "Jojo" Chokal-Ingam --- "passing strange" as a Black man. How can a dark-skinned Black man "fake" being Black? I'll bet my last penny this South Asian descendant of Black Africans is a royal piece of work and "brother from another planet." If I'm wrong, I'm a horse with a PhD raising two unicorns.

JOJO has a right to think, and say, what he will, like I do, but I am puzzled why he believes acting within an American White self-interest honors his "dalit" (untouchable) heritage. I would give someone with a degree in one of the analytical sciences, statistics, with a 3.1 GPA, from The University of Chicago, like him, the chance to become a medical doctor, for he's overcome an awful lot and persevered to earn it, which says something about his character and intelligence.

By inference he wouldn't extend the same opportunity to an African American, which makes me think he doesn't understand American History. I don't give a "Mississippi GD" whether he thinks it would taint someone for not having higher grades. I'd take into account everything about the person and make a judgement. Having top MCATs and GPAs are nothing to sneeze at, but the practice of medicine requires intelligence, people skills, and a single-mindedness like (practically) nothing else.

Today if we go by GPA and MCAT scores alone U.S. medical schools would be practically all-Asian, with a sprinkling of other races. This would be a huge mistake because it's not conducive to the Asian or public interest.

Given why so many Asians study the sciences and medicine (parental pressure is overwhelming to, particularly in immigrant households), it is important to ask if it's really what these youngsters want to be doing. I know how stressed so many of these students lives are, how this fosters neuroses, suicidation and/or suicide, how this impacts their ability to cultivate meaningful relationships and interests outside of books, etc. (to be contiuned...if I can find the time)

So are Indians colorless? Whatever nationality he has, he is not white or blue nor yellow or purple. He is black. And all blacks are not african americans!
