Have you ever looked at the oceans and wondered why they are blue in colour? Is it because the oceans reflect the blue sky? In this video, let’s debunk this popular notion and look at the science behind the blue colour of oceans. Also, sit tight and watch till the end of the video, as we explain why certain parts of the ocean sometimes look green or brown.

When the water looks murky or brown, it means there is a lot of mud, or sediment, in the water. Sediment particles can be so tiny that they take a long time to settle to the bottom, so they travel wherever the water goes. Rivers carry sediment into the bay, and waves and tides help keep the sediment suspended

Thank you Byju's, I had this doubt, I asked from google and also by my science teacher. But I didn't get satisfaction. But now after watching this video, I have understood

The oceans sometimes look brown because of the presence of lots of mud or sediment in the water. These particle take a lot of time to settle down, so they travel with water.
MORE MUD IN OCEAN = BROWN COLOUR.

Thankyou mam for giving us extra knowledge, and
As light bounces off and passes through water, it reflects the color blue back to our eyes, but microscopic algae and tiny sediments known as colored dissolved organic matter muddy the metaphorical waters and cause oceans to appear brown.

Byju's, I have a doubt and that is like as you well said, " water in ocean scatter mainly blue / sky blue colour, right . So, in very very deep the light is just not going down in very deep part of ocean so it meant that it's not ( deep in ocean ) blue 💙 . So it can be like blank or even transparent. Thanks byju's for making such awesome video lecture for innovation and education .

When the ocean appears brown it means that there is lot of tiny sand particles or mud dissolved in it giving the ocean brown appearance sometimes

Some beaches have crystal clear water while others are murky and gray. ... That's when the warmer surface temperatures of the ocean move further out to sea and are replaced with deeper, colder and more sediment-rich waters. The Pacific Ocean is huge and turns a lot of water brownish-gray as a result of upwelling. When the water looks murky or brown, it means there is a lot of mud, or sediment, in the water. Sediment particles can be so tiny that they take a long time to settle to the bottom, so they travel wherever the water goes. Rivers carry sediment into the bay, and waves and tides help keep the sediment suspended.
IT IS THE ANSWER OF QUESTION

Not only oceans but also most of the rivers appear brown because of the sediments like silt or clay which are very tiny particles who do not settle down forming a colloidal solution

It appears brown because of the presence of silt and clay, as they absorb shorter wavelengths and red, orange and yellow, all three together appear to be brownish in color.

4:28 because of high sand particles present in sea

The H2O is brown in some cases because of the dissolution of dirt, dust particles more in the water body then aquatic microorganisms nd also the water particles can't absorb that much making it brown in colour.

The coloration of coastal ocean waters is usually due to the soil that feeding rivers and bayous pass through. If the soil is high in organic, then it will tend to be more brown. Good example is the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The rivers feeding the Mississippi Sound are high in clay, and organic matter.
In either of these cases, the water isn’t actually yucky, it’s just got more going on underneath the surface.
THANK YOU BYJU’S FOR SUCH A AMAZING CONTENT
