I’m glad there are how-to videos like this that show basic life skills. Not everyone has someone in their life to show them these things.

im thankful for this video I literally had no idea how to, my parents just threw my child self in the shower and told me it's time to learn how to wash my hair. spent all my life with dried and crusty hair, i was a child with hair washed by a child.

It makes me sad that so many people in the comments say they never had anyone to teach them this🥺 my mom used to wash my hair when I was a child and even a teenager 😅 she said she enjoyed doing it. I never really understood that nor appreciate it enough. Unfortunately I've lost her but I wish I had the chance to thank her, and apologies for taking those little, beautiful gestures for granted 😔💔

If you have very dry or frizzy hair try using the reverse-washing method! That means applying conditioner before using shampoo. Make sure to leave the conditioner in while rubbing in the shampoo so that you can rinse everything off at once. I've tried this twice so far and it worked really well for me! My hair got softer, less frizzy and shiny.

Pro tip: regulate your conditioner use, and after rising it, rinse your back again with soap and water to prevent back acne ( some conditioners cause it)

Also!! Not all shampoo gets sudsy when lathered. Some shampoos have additives that make them bubbly because people assume that if there are no bubbles, your hair won’t be clean. If you use shampoo that doesn’t get sudsy, it’s fine. It’s all personal preference. :)

Not everyone’s hair is equal so there’s not one right way to care for it. For example, I shampoo my hair twice, and I find it gets cleaner and stays clean for longer. Also, my hair is wavy/curly, so that amount of conditioner is simply not enough for me! It’s fine if you use this routine as a starting point but find out what works for YOU!

One tip to everyone is that never brush your hair when it's wet, it's wayyy to prone to hair fall since it's weak when it's wet. (Edit: unless u have curly hair)

i was never taught how to do the basics of life and was sort of just left to my devices to discipline and learn things alone for the few 21 years of my life... as someone with long hair despite being male, seeing something like this makes me grateful that I no longer have to question what to do because i’ve finally been taught. Thank you.

I’ve been trying to switch over to “nicer shampoo/ conditioner” and I’m wasting SO MUCH because I feel like my hair isn’t clean without bubbles (they’re sulfate free s/c). I hope this works!

try not to scrunch your hair when squeezing out water, it could cause damage. gently squeeze down your hair to put less stress on it. don't squeeze the water out after every shampoo (do so if you're going to condition so your hair could soak up more of the product) so you won't need to use as much shampoo. also if possible, you could apply coconut or avocado oil to the strands before washing (not the scalp) to help protect your hair from some of the harmful ingredients in the shampoo.

You really are lucky for having that low porosity hair/ sealed cuticles. I have never used heat on my hair, not even warm water yet it's so frizzy because of the opened cuticles. Even acv, cold water, careful maintenance & all those silk scrunchies & pillowcases are not enough to tame my frizz. Oiling is not an option as I have dandruff/ seborrheic derm. I can never do a messy bun like you, my hair would start to break almost immediately & I have to be especially careful & gentle when my hair is wet because hairfall is a huge issue for me. Please keep loving your hair. You do not have to squeeze out the water seperately. A t shirt instead of towel drying will do better without stressing out the cuticles. Oh and if you are someone who washes hair everyday or frequently, use a clarifying shampoo maybe twice a week. Else just use a sulphate free hydrating shampoo.

I learned this recently; if you struggle with back acne, it may be because of the oils in your conditioner! I’ve noticed a significant difference just keeping my hair away from my skin as the conditioner is setting in

This was really helpful! I’ve never really been taught how to properly wash my hair, so there is always a build up of oil closer to my scalp. My mother always gets angry disciplines me for not having proper hair hygiene, but she never taught me how to wash my hair properly. I started washing myself at 6 years old, and she just told me to put shampoo and scrub. No techniques or things to do/not to do. I can’t explain how helpful this was! 💙

I mean, I'm a man with a long hair so I didn't really know how to wash it and I'm having a trouble taking care of it. It's embarrassing to ask this kind of things since they might think I'm a perv so this is really helpful. Thank you so much ❤

⚠️ *Textured Hair* ⚠️

If you have textured hair, ( 3a, 3b, 3c, 4a, 4b, 4c) don't follow everything in this video. The video if brilliant ofc but it's because you have different hair types. You shouldn't treat it the same. Some hair might be oily or dry. Some hair shouldn't be washed often ect. Instead watch a video on how to wash textured hair instead. Hope this helps ♥️

my mother never told me how to wash my hair, so i had greasy hair since she stopped showering me. I asked her to wash my hair for me a year a go and i totally forgot since i have such a bad memory, i watched this video thinking it would be one of those weird routines with more than shampoo and conditioner and not expecting much, this is exactly how she washed my hair!
A little update, i used the video concentrating so much on not loosing my memory like i usually do and it was totally worth it, my hair is silky and nice just like my mother's
