The Psychological Aesthetics of INTJ

This essay, “The Psychological Aesthetics of INTJ,,” won 1st prize in our essay contest. The views and type assessments expressed in this essay represent the opinions of its author and not the editorial point of view of the site. Readers should also remember that “type portraits” can never apply to all members of a given type (Psychological Types §895), and that aesthetic preferences are psychic material, not psychic functions. And according to modern scholarly consensus, Luther did not actually nail his theses to the church door. The essay’s author and the site admins are aware of these reservations.

I test INTJ and maybe I am, but if I am, than in my opinion, I would have to disagree that an intj can not separate the art from the artist. I can recognize well made art regardless of how much I dislike the artist.

Most of the time i'm visioning my future in my mind and then try to make it happen in real life, when i hear a song that triggers one of those visions or "ideas", that song becomes part of my mental world and whenever i listen to it, i imagine that vision so the video is actually right ! as an INTJ i can't separate the music from the "idea" .

BS about not being able to separate the art from the artist. Some other psychological factor was at play in the example he gave

the hard e vs soft e that people struggle with when pronouncing Nietzsche -_-

Your description of Nietzsche sounds more like my nephew, an INTP, rather than me, an INTJ. I am perfectly capable of separating the politics of the artists from the artwork so that I can appreciate the latter while despising the former. My nephew gets images from music, I do not. Ayn Rand is more like it. Ayn Rand was scathing of Nietzsche, by the way, and destroyed his entire philosophy in a single paragraph. She was not kind to Kant, either. Wagner & Beethoven are spot-on, but I also like Vivaldi, Mozart, and Johann Strauss, Richard Strauss not so much. Probably not worth redoing the video for one word, but Richard's name should be pronounced "REE-kard", with the k a little softer than the English k, like the ch in Bach.

This is well done and fleshed out quite well. I am surprised to see this from 2016 when the ideas themselves still seem so new and real to me now. I am deeper now than I have ever been and yet there are so many who have visited here before. Thank you. And where have you gone from here?

Certain songs that I associate with my visions become a ritual where I listen to the music before taking on challenges

I personally listen to Sawano Hiroyuki. However, everybody likes his music so...To me it tells stories when I hear it. That's why I consider him personally the best composer to ever live. I love how he rearranged this song. "09. 9thMob.流星のナミダ ORCH-VER." Youtube it. If you hate it tell me why please.

INTJs rejects Christianity? I know a few INTJs including myself who would disagree with You. Some are Christians some are of other religions some are Diests some are Athiests. Sounds a little flawed and biased.

There's only one "ee" sound in Nietzsche, and it's at the first e.

this video just reaffirms my belief that INTJs are always more likely to different than alike... ones wisdom and intellect are always more important to me than personality anyway... mildly entertaining

Regardless of Neitzche's lack of interest in the details of Wagner's music, the various details you mentioned all speak deeply to me, however I am a musician through and through, as well as strongly INTJ-T. However, your other assertions seems to be supported.

Damn this is on target, i really appreciated the break down on how some of us view or take in the arts.

Maybe some better EQ work on the guy's voice would not make him sound extremely annoying.

Dude, did you go on thesaurus.com when writing this? The words your reading are unnecessarily confusing

INTJs that reject christianity have simply not studied it, yet.
