Hey Josh, thanks for watching 👍 With everything costing more these days, I think I’m done with the mat systems (ditra heat, stratamat, nuheat, etc) floor leveler is nicer to tile over anyways 😊

I’m glad you put this video out. I was thinking about doing this in my next bathroom for content. It’s good to see how different people do it. Thanks for sharing!

Perfect timing Bro! Just about to tackle this same job. Excellent video, thanks so much for the knowledge! Damn I think might invest in a pair of those kneepads too.

Nice Job! It looks like you went with sheetrock walls with a waterproof membrane on this one..

Interesting process. I always wondered how heated floors were done. Did the camera person have to stay in the tub until the floor leveling dried?

Thanks... great video! I'm surprised there was no back up sensor. I've only done one, but the kit I used came with t sensors in case one fails in the future. basically both are mounted in the floor. If the one I'm using goes bad, the spare wires are in the box.

Great info. I wish to use this method with a Sheetrock bathroom floor. Plywood/cement board /Heating grid and self leveling cement on top. DO i still need to use a waterproofing membrane on top of everything before I lay tile??
Is using cement board overkill?

A couple of comments from an electrician who is in a similar age-range as you:
1. Don't ever suggest on a public forum that it's really no big deal to work on a panel hot. There is no excuse for leaving the panel energized for this work. And you have no way of communicating the relative danger of working hot for the viewer's installation you have not seen. People die from electrocution every year, and panels such as these are capable of injuring and killing unqualified homeowners trying to add a circuit while the panel is energized.
2. While not wrong, there is no benefit to running a dedicated circuit for the floor heat - let alone a 20 amp circuit. Did you look at the load the heat would impose before making your decision? My gut feeling is that floor heat load is less than 500 watts, and maybe closer to 400 watts. This could literally be added to a nearby receptacle circuit (not the bathroom receptacle circuit) if there is capacity.

If I do this and remove the steam radiator in my bathroom, will the steam system be out of sync?

Can I run the wire and then apply thin set right over it?

So no uncoupling membrane over the top of this leveler?
