To be completly honest, I thought this bike was gonna lighter then what it weighed in at, obviously we are talking about a rival spec bike, and those rival bikes before were in the 18lb area, but i thought this bike would be 16lbs, maybe a matte version in the purple might be lighter, who knows. But I still do think this model at this price point to get the complete ame geo and all the new changes they made to the bike just a 10r carbon is a great deal, you are getting carbon wheels a nice group and also a power meter.

I just got a Aeroad SLX with Force, DT Swiss 62mm, full carbon handlebar/stem for $4999 USD. Was eyeing an SL7 Expert a month ago but went with the Canyon for value.
Still getting used to SRAM though, and contemplating if I need a chain catcher..

Nice one but for this price point should come with that new handlebars, force or ultegra set and roval rapide wheels set, for this built max 4000-4500$, just built not long ago Tcr Sl with dura ace set /hyper67 wheels under 6000£ ( frame SL £1500, pro if you like integrated setpost 500£ extra to the full cost, full set dura ace £2500, wheels £1300, plus few bits £500)

My Sworks SL2 with Ultegra 105 11 doped with Quarq power meter and 50mm carbon wheels rim break at 7.3kgs only. Had mine since new.

If I’m being honest, the 2022 SL7 with ultegra components is a much better buy. You get better components and with the the new SL8 expert you get rival??? Nah, that dog don’t hunt. Imo SL7 expert is the better buy.

3:30 I think the new one piece aero bar and stem combo might be a big part of the quoted aero gains of the SL8 over the SL7, assuming Specialized are both correct and telling the truth, so depending on how your SL7 is setup you may not see any aero gains if you upgrade to this tier of the SL8 and leave it stock.

Makes me even more happy with my Yoeleo R12 with Ultegra Di2 and Elite Carbon 50D wheels -- for thousands less. But I very sincerely hope you sell a lot of them because local shops need everything they can get.

Great video! One thing I’ve noticed recently is that pt scale reading can be significantly off when you hold it like that. You are supposed to hang the scale from the top with a piece cord. I’ve noticed as much as 200-400g lighter readings (for a 7-8kg bike) if I hold it on the bottom, on a stand or not.

Specialized continue to make great bikes. My now ancient Tarmac SL3 S-Works still giving me great rides but definitely eyeing up these latest bikes.

As much as I love Specialized, this is just an excuse of a bike. The entry level should come with alloy wheels and keep the entry price of the SL7. All my actual bikes are Specialized, but I think Im going back to Canyon at least on road. The argument of “If you Enjoy something” and blablabla, is a sales person speach, because yes, it is expensive.

Just got last week my new 2023 SL7 di2 105 for 4205€, and i am happy with the price, the new SL8 are going up on prices :(

I wonder why they didn't run the cockpit cables down further forward on the headtube. They freed up all that space with the aero nose and could have bypassed the issue from the early SL7 altogether. It also means those spacers could have been fixed instead of rotating with the stem.

Nice. Expert has long been the sweet sport for value from Specialized. Wish they would still make it with the Ultegra group set.

I think they need to do a new two piece stem bar setup and new spacers because the previous gen stuff looks pretty strange on it. Visually speaking it seems the only way for a good look is the one piece roval bars/
