Excellent review.
There are those who criticize and then those who have it.
And those, I'm part of, go ride and don't spend their time criticizing something they'll never have 🤣🤣

Beautiful color! I wish my Canyon Aeroad CFR had that paint job. It is a pricey bike. I paid $8k USD for mine with Dura Ace and power meter.

ngl, it looks almost identical to the SL7 except for some minor changes. The nose cone is an eye sore but most people won't even notice unless you're a hard core cyclist enthusiast. (or when you turn your bars haha)

I got the same bike 2015 version. cost $3, 000 back then. still a pleasure to ride

When you get bikes like that do you also get to ride em a little?

Great review James. The weight at only 7kg is quite something. I’d imagine it’d be really easy to get it down to sub UCI. 😁😎👍🏻

Wow. That looks fast. What?😮. Is it backwards day in you town? All the cars are going backwards 😅

Don't mean to be a stickler, but the right bar needs to be rewrapped. You can see the silver shifter clamp.

Its less aero than any rim brake Tarmac ever because of the pizza cutters and the calipers into the wind. And the extra spokes. It catches the side winds. Its heavier than the rim brake Tarmacs. To change the stem takes hours rsther than a few minutes. The handlebar isnt adjustable. The spokesare uneven on the front. The asymmetric action of the disk has to slow down the hub which then has to slow the spokes which then slows the rim rather than directly slowing the rim from a central and symmetrical point on the bike. The braking system generates torque where you dont want it pulling the forks back but doesn't have as much leverage where you do want it. 140 mm rotors have less distance to effect leverage than a 622 mm rim. I would recommend anyone wanting to buy this bike dont and buy an SL4 or SL5 or any of the rim brake Tarmacs.

Not to flame, but the absence of dedicated one piece bar with headset cover is inexcusable. Having just purchased an SL8 S-Works frameset my options are Factor bar/stem or Deda Elementi Alanera. I can expect something like that from Yoeleo or a generic brand but not a company with all the resources at its disposal.

That stinksniffer front looks terrible but let's hope it stops the steerer tube failing like the sl7. Overall..hugely overpriced for an average quality frame and not something I'd want to ride

33% stiffer than the previous model so the SL7 was a noodle.

I wouldn't be so salty about the tarmac if it weren't for the fact that it's made in China, and Specialized uses legal kung fu to write "Handmade in Taiwan" or in plain English "Assembled in Taiwan from foreign and domestic parts" to avoid admitting this.

So we're paying 6-14k for bikes made in China, by workers who make less than 5k a year.
