A purse that had been lost for 63 years was found at the old League City School building during renovations in 2021.
Based on some of the belongings, the purse dated back to 1959. The owner was Beverly Williams.
Items found in the purse were photos of family and friends, notes, handkerchiefs, a wallet and other memories from Williams’ life.
Armando Rodriguez, the contractor that found the purse, turned it into City officials in hopes of finding the owner.
Beverly Williams has since passed away, but had 3 daughters who still live in the area. One of which is Deborah Hicks, whose husband Justin Hicks, is one of the council members who voted for the project. She called it “incredible” how things came full circle between her mom’s purse and renovation of the building.
The three sisters laughed about the size of the purse, saying it was the smallest their mom had ever carried.
Rodriguez is glad he was able to return the memories to the family.

Her comment about seeing your parent as a person for the first time -- I remember that feeling. One of those rare revelatory moments in one's life.
