The only people who died as a direct result of the Fukushima reactor event were those workers in the reactor buildings of two of the plants who were killed by the explosion of hydrogen gas that was vented from the core as it heated up. The hydrogen resulted from the reaction of high temperature water vapor and zirconium, where the zirconium reacts with the oxygen in water and releases H2 gas. It was a very expensive accident, for sure, but the forced evacuation of people around the plant area by the Japanese government killed at least 1600 people, mostly older folks. The tsunami itself killed over 1500 people in the Fukushima prefecture, and under a half dozen were casualties of the Fukushima plant hydrogen explosions.

Countries like Australia still dump container loads of plastic waste for instance, in Indonesia and add to their problems. What you’ve shown is partly, western countries using poorer countries as a dumping ground for dangerous waste
