an explanation to DEATH : basically melanie has had the “character/persona” of crybaby since around 2014/2015, she’s gone through being born to her death, death is about the evolution of crybaby and how she is growing in a spiritual aspect, as in the album CryBaby, we saw mel grow and in K-12 we saw her go to “school” and learn, now she’s growing spiritually. In K-12 there’s a part where they say “you start in the womb and end in the tomb “something along those lines… if you look at the track list, DEATH is first and Womb is the last song, portraying that mel is in fact starting a new journey :)

it's also worth noting that there are 9 swords in the scene with melanie's body and the nine of swords is a card in tarot which is associated with anxiety and fear, basically all the things that keep you up at night, death being an idea that causes many anxiety, or some may be afraid of death. I don't know if that was intended but it makes sense

The coolest thing about this album is that it’s a full cycle if you listen in order at the end it says again life is death is life is… and then death startes playing again it’s beautiful

She is using the symbolisim of the Tarot de Marseille. Specifically, the 10 of Swords Arcana. The transformation process has come to an end. Very cool!

When she first released this song i didnt really like it because its so new and out of her style(which is the point) but it grew on me after a few listens and its one of my favorites because of how ethereal and rock it sounded like 😭

Mhm I agree! I love when artists explore deeper, darker concepts that, to the normal consumer, may seem off putting. Death is such a versatile and deeply layered topic with so many notions of how it’s perceived and it’s not talked about nearly enough. Melanie isn’t really evoking fear of death I think, for of the opposite and that’s just so cool to me! Even during the whole Crybaby era, the way she has always visually and lyrically painted things is something you never see artists do. NF has done it quite a lot, so has BTS. But I really can’t recall other artists taking that artistic route so I completely agree, this is very cool :0

Melanie is so unique with this album and death is one of my favs from portals. Definitely I would rank this album first, then k-12, then crybaby. All are amazing tho❤ Can’t wait for the portals movie!!

Love your input on Melanie, I've always loved how she tackles more difficult topics in her work, but this is like beyond amazing and I'm so happy she's getting a lot of recognition for her work and creativity. Also I can't imagine how difficult it must be to perform live in her costume and still sound so amazing!!
